Anyone watch this? The poor lad seemed to have a very difficult dad and, in the depiction, Huw was not very nice at all.

I find documentaries/dramas about living people rather distasteful, whatever they have done wrong.

Utterly abhorrent both the man and the so called 'dramatisation'caters to the lowest lascivious common denominator. Jeez it took a so called drama to highlight the trauma, ruination and in some cases death of wholly innocent sub-postmaters with the Horizon IT scandal when it had been reported on for years by the likes of Private Eye but hey stick it on TV for the plebs who can't look further than the end of their nose for something to happen..Just what is the validity of the Huw Edwards drama?...For me there is none other than to appeal to the baser prurient interests...

It’s what tv channels do to get ratings and increase advertising revenue.

Btw all you called Terry there is an off or channel button on your remote.

Depends on your definition, admittedly I don't think kiddy porn was involved

How about kinky politicians other than Peter Mandelson ?

Keith Vaz ?

I had a colleague who had previously worked at the BBC who confirmed like many TV presenters and actors his public persona and real life behaviour were completely different.

Martin Clunes was interviewed and asked about the timing. To be fair, he did say that Huw Edwards as a journalist would have reported on it almost immediately after it becoming public knowledge! He's not wrong.

Bispham, Blackpool.

Martin Clunes portrayed the character excellently, in the final credits there were words from the actual lad involved to add substance.

The dates for the timeline were also relatable because instead of using actual dates as the events were shown in actual months before and after the queen's death.

Agree it was an excellent production.

He was a master manipulater and the paedophile should be in prison.

Can you imagine the filthy thoughts running through his mind sitting opposite Selina Scott with his brew & morning papers?

There is no way I condone what he did and am rather surprised he didn't end up in prison. Don't like these ghoulish docu-soaps about living people irrespective of what they've done. Unfair on the victims for starters.

He was an excellent newsreader and event commentator [Queen's funeral, King's coronation etc] so sad he turned out the way he did. Same with others before him. My stepfather thought Jimmy Savile was marvelous and my mother thought Rolf Harris was brilliant.

They choose to be in the public eye, it's a choice they make. If they then also choose to fuck up they are fair game.

If you'd watch it you'd realise that the reason we spent 5 days speculating about who the BBC star was. Was to try and protect the identity of the person who wasn't in the public eye.

Arguable about the royal family, they don't exactly choose to be born.

Not that i agree in anyway way with what he did, but seeing as such he was such a high profile person who everyone knew, why did he disclose to the young men who he was?

We've all have pics sent to us and we have thought they didn't look real or not the person they said they were.

Plenty of people on here and Gr etc have blank profiles and hide behind the anonymity of it.

I have absolutely no evidence for this. And people can agree or disagree.

I think he liked a certain level of risk.

You saw him say that he'd faught his attraction since the 1990's. Then he was inundated with flattery via social media.

He'd also nearly reached his pinickle and being someone, working hard to prove his father was a "thing" and he became complacent. Ego also played a part

Yeah makes sense, suppose some people enjoy the risk of being caught.

I know ,well heard of, a gentleman who had been on big brother, and not long after he left the show was often seen at local cruising grounds, wonder if he enjoyed the attention/risk too.

Should have been clearer it's not the risk of being caught that drove (I don't think) it's the risk of what next.

So he'd taken risks to prove people wrong.

His dad

Himself - accent - Oxbridge

He'd suppressed his sexualiity

He believed he was the man because the BBC wanted him for QEII funeral

Became complacent because he'd always risked and wone......but he'd learnt how to manipulate that risk
