U=U and Prep is believed to be 99% effective, if taken according to instructions.

Surprised you weren't given better info when you received your prescription.

He ought to have told you he was HIV+. But, as others have said, if you are taking your prep correctly, and he his, you should be absolutely fine.

When you next see your test clinic you need to ask them to explain a few things. Including minimum time following potential exposure that a test might show an infection.

You can only evaluate risk and effectively protect yourself, and others, if you understand those risks and the preventative methods that you choose to use.

From THT:

No, you are under no legal obligation to disclose your HIV status to a one-night stand if you are on effective treatment, have an undetectable viral load, and are practicing Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U)...

The risk is going to be much smaller than having sex with someone who isn't tested...of course there's always a risk but you've done the right thing in looking after your own sexual health

I'm on prep and doxy pep and as long as you follow the correct dosage you'll be fine.

You should be due a check up at some point anyway if your prescribed

We are all responsible for our own safety and should not leave it to chance.

It is not unreasonable to ask for a stranger if they have recently been tested and if they were clear.

Prep doesn't protect against everything.

You're on prep so the other guys status is none of your business tbh. But as has been said you're all good as U=U. Undetectable poz guys are probably the safest guys out there.

I would rather have sex with someone who is undetectable any day! No need for prep if they U. I do worry in this day and age that people are not aware of these things. 🤦‍♂️

It's not going to come back positive if hes undetectable.

You said yourself U=U, rapid tests need 12 weeks by the way.

It takes three months to manifest, so you would need to wait at least that long for your tests results to so if you are infected or not

if you get fucked bareback on a one night stand then what's point of asking him. You get the truth

I totally disagree. I never ask anyone I fuck their HIV status, as I take care of my own sexual health, it’s really none of my business. I tell the men I fuck I’m negative and on prep, I only fuck bareback, and leave it at that. I don’t feel they are in any way obliged to tell me their status.

Post-exposure prophylaxis, also called PEP, is a safe, effective prescription medicine that you can take after a possible exposure to reduce the risk of getting HIV.

PEP is taken every day for 28 days, and it is most effective when you take all doses as prescribed.

If you think you may have been exposed to HIV, talk to your health care provider, visit an urgent care or emergency room, or use the HIV Services Locator to find a PEP

The OP is already on daily PreP, there is no need for PeP

"I can't believe he didn't tell you, what a complete wanker, that said I think you're mad having anal without condoms."

One, there is no reason anyone should need to disclose their health information to anyone else.

Two, would you believe it anyway?

Three, the OP quite rightly is looking after his own sexual health by taking PreP which is as good as using condoms for HIV prevention

Four, the other person was undetectable which means he can't transmit HIV

Five, go educate yourself

You'd be happy having see with someone HIV+ and they didn't tell you beforehand? Surely it's an assault isn't it?

If someone is HIV+, this means they have been tested, being tested means they will most likely be getting treatment for it, as was in the OPs meeting where the other guy was undetectable. Willfully transmitting HIV is a crime which in this case it was not. Educate yourself

If you're having sex, it's more than likely you have done exactly that. Frankly, it's none of your business.

People that know they have it aren't the worry it's those that don't care, don't get tested or get told and block it out and carry on as normal who are the problem. Someone who knows they have it, does what they are told and takes medication for it isn't a worry at all and no risk if they are undetectable.

When I lived in Thailand I knew a ladyboy who died of aids , funny person and I got on well with her, never slept with her, she stopped going to the bar she worked in and everyone said she was gambling or hungover , next thing I saw on Facebook she was being cremated, most were told it was cancer but one of her friends who was also a ladyboy knew me and told me it was AIDS. Really shocked me, she'd been sleeping with people right up to the point she got ill and apparently knew she had HIV but was too embarrassed to get on treatment. All came out after the death.
