Gym etiquette

There was a gay guy in the changing rooms the other day at my local gym (council gym, not a specifically gay establishment) and he was wandering round with his eyes on stalks and a huge grin like he’d landed in heaven and couldn’t believe his luck.

How discrete do guys think they are while perving? To me, that’s what it is pervy behaviour. Yes it’s inevitable in that environment, you’re going to see naked guys, but ogling without consent is rude, just as it is with women.

My gym changing area isn't huge and most guys after exercise or classes will just find a space, strip off and head to the open showers.

Some will start chatting and it's inevitable that you see each other naked. Some may have involuntary erections/semis but nothing's made of it. Dry off & dress.

It would seem odd for someone just to be ogling others and I think at my gym, something would be said, perhaps in fun at first, but if the hint wasn't taken, then more direct

As said above it'll be natural to have a look. We're human, it's what we do. However, being blatantly obvious in a public space is something I wouldn't be comfortable with.

I visit my local leisure centre for a gym session followed by a swim, 3 or 4 times a week. It's very busy but I can't say I've ever noticed such behaviour either in the gym itself, or in the changing room.

I'm physically attracted to women though, and whilst I enjoy the female form, and the curves that go with it, I'm very discreet and certainly don't have my eyes on stalks.

I was only ever once in the position of actually starting at another in the changing room…he definitely noticed and we sparked up a changing room friend, nothing happened and he only ever spoke of his girlfriend but made a point of being naked as long as possible around me

It’s wholly inappropriate to to be so overt, unless it’s invited and discrete enough for the environment.

That being said, I was at a hotel a few weeks ago and in the swimming pool changing area, a guy was walking around proudly displaying the longest, thickest weapon I’ve ever seen. Hard not to sneak a peek!

My gym is actually part of a large leisure centre, run on behalf of the local council. It's on the same site as a cinema complex, bowling alley and several restaurants with parking for several hundred cars.

I've never done anything at the gym itself but have met a few guys in the car park, after dark, for fun in either of our cars.

You go to the gym to get fit and look good in the pub gardens during the summer. I'd find it a compliment if someone ogled me. And yes I would walk from the shower to the lockers naked why not. It pays to advertise.

Big difference between discreet looks and eyes on stalks. Eyes on stalks is liable to get his lights knocked out.
