Big aggressive fella down my pub throws his considerable weight around & bullies us all about the pool table.

Never puts a coin down to reserve his turn, just says ‘I’m next!’ whilst staring you down, cracking his knuckles.

I’m sick of it and I’m going to tell the big gorilla to do one tonight.

Thug like that in my local when i was in my twenties. They all knew I was gay bu vit wasnt spoken much about. Roughish pub.

One night the thug was arm wrestling everyone and winning. Despite being skinny I did go to the gym. My turn came and they looked on thinking i would lose but I was so determined mind over matter his tattooed arm went down. H xwas so pissed that the fairy had won. No trouble after that. Always stand up to a bully!

If he is being a general nuisance to you and other pub users then perhaps a discreet word in the landlord's/manager's ear. I've run pubs and would not tolerate bullying or that type of behavior. They either behaved properly or got barred.

Unless you have a wish to get beaten up or end up being arrested then this is the answer you want to pay attention to. If your friends feel the same, get them to voice their opinion too

I work in a bar, pretty quiet most of the time, but one customer was always bullying in his general attitude towards everyone, thing is nobody would stand up to him. I chose my moment when only half a dozen or so customers were in and let rip with a controlled tirade of not very complimentary words, though without being rude. He drank his pint and stormed out. A few days later he came back in, totally different attitude, nowadays we sit and chat no problem, he even brings me a sleeve of ciggies back from his holidays. Just shows that a few choice words in front of a few choice people can make all the difference.
