No surprise here, it’s the annual collapse of Arsenal isn’t it?

Even when they were up for 4 trophies late into the season I’d have bet zero.

50 years since they were the 5 - 1 underdogs in the Final. And beat Man Utd 1-0. Southampton were in the 2nd Division back then. Equivalent to the Championship, which is what they’re in atm. Just looked at their April fixtures; one word…….. Tough.

If any of you younger fabbers have not seen any highlights from the Chelsea V Leeds final , referred to , give it a watch, you may realise the football you are watching today is somewhat different to the 1970s version,

The Chelsea v Leeds game was a powder puff affair compared to what is regarded as the most brutal football match of all time - Chile v Italy from the 1962 World Cup. Dubbed the Battle of Santiago it was an incredible spectacle of violence. There is footage of the match on YouTube if you're interested.

Hey I’d love to experience the Champions League mate unfortunately we aren’t quite ready for that just yet but give it time and it who knows

We have a ambitious young owner who has proven he can run a football club at the highest level and we have a top young manager who reminds me of Arsene Wenger (something Zhaka himself has said) so who knows how far we can go if we spend wisely etc etc

As for Arsenal I can clearly remember the invincible season when you were battling it out with Man Utd in my opinion one of the greatest achievements in the premier league especially to go unbeaten 👌

The FA cup has lost almost all of its magic these days. It’s just about the big money clubs.

It’s merely a procession of at least one of the big 5 (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man C & Man U) to the final, with the odd blip on the way.

In the last 50 years (that’s 100 finalists) 60 of them have been one of those top 5.

Only 5 times in those 50 years has neither finalist been one of those, compared to 15 times when both have been one of those 5.

Over the last 25 it’s even worse reading.

Of 50 possible finalists, 36 have come from those big 5.

11 times both finalists have been one of them, and the only time this century that none of those five have reached the final was in 2008 when Cardiff lost to Portsmouth.

So good luck to Southampton and Leeds. On recent experience, they will definitely need it.

Agree 👍

I’ve even heard fans of the bigger clubs say f**k the FA Cup 🤦🏻

That just shows how small minded they really are especially considering what a FA cup win would mean to the so called “smaller” clubs like my team Sunderland

I’d give absolutely everything to see us lift the FA cup it would mean the absolute world to me but unfortunately might be something I never ever get to see

Our win in 1973 is still talked about today and the players who played in it have gone down as absolute legends we even have a statue of the late great Bob Stokoe outside our stadium

Problem is the bigger clubs fans are so use to winning it that they have lost what it really means to witness their club lift that iconic trophy at Wembley and that is a very very sad thing to see.

Was it nice to see Arsenal get knocked out????

Bloody rights it was.

Let a team progress to the semis that actually appreciate the opportunity to possibly see their club lift the trophy

Some of the big clubs fans wouldn’t know what passion is if it hit them in the face….

I think the only way for the FA cup to gain its past glory is for the FA to put the winners into the champions league, rather than the team that finishes 4th in the premier league.

That’s the only way the big clubs will take it serious enough to put out a full strength squad before the semi finals.

And if a championship club wins the FA cup, the cash boost a champions league campaign would give them would be invaluable.

Great idea 👌 it’s the most iconic cup in this country and should be fully respected by all clubs especially as some of us would give our right arms to see our clubs lift it

Some of the big clubs fans wouldn’t know what passion is if it hit them in the face….

...as an arsenal fan...I reject your premise...I've been a supporter since the late seventies....good times and bad, we all want our teams to win....it doesn't matter how big or small you are...I watched the final in 73...I agree the fa cup meant a lot more then...it was full day of tv coverage...a real spectacle

I’m not picking you out mate I’ve just heard fans of the big clubs say f**k the cup it’s not important blah blah blah which is something I will never ever understand 🤷🏻

Surely winning a trophy as iconic as the FA cup should be something every fan would want to see no matter how many times you have won it

Yes I get the bigger clubs are in the champions league etc etc but wouldn’t you want to see your club lift every bit of silverware you can in one season??

Maybe it’s just me but when you support a smaller club I do believe that you appreciate cup wins more than fans of clubs that are so use it

Just my opinion by the way before I get slated ha

...with the quality of competition now...sometimes you have to sacrifice the smaller trophies for the bigger prize...im not saying arsenal didn't want the fa Cup..but he couldn't afford to play his strongest team every game...4 major competitions..its difficult to juggle them all

It is mate it’s just a shame that the FA cup seems to be the one that clubs sacrifice but hey ho i suppose it’s way football is now it’s all down to money money money

Anyways it’s been nice to actually talk to someone who talks sense and isn’t looking for an argument good luck to you for the rest of the season 👍"

...thanks....same to you

FA Cup is great competition, underdogs love it ( if it’s only to win earlier rounds ) it’s there fa cup final day . Then has later rounds come well done Southampton, was that there final only time tell . But everyone of there fans won the cup that day and for me that’s what it’s all about . Im Wiganer but follow rugby more than football , and back in 2013 little Wigan Athletic did what was impossible and beat Manchester City in final .Thats what what every fan dreams

"Anybody know if the draw has been done."

Man City V Southampton Saturday 25 April

Chelsea V Leeds Sunday 26 April

This question about if the draw has been made is one of the things The FA have really messed up , the draw always used to be Monday lunchtime but now all over the place, also we have "fans" whooping and yelling as teams are announced with a presenter laughing along ,,, it just not necessary ,,we just need the number , the name of home team the next number name of away team , confirmation of the tie ,, that's all ,,along with a regular time ,, like a few things with the FA Cup they tried to repair something that wasn't broken and now it is

I suppose in the present people have access to multi media and want to watch the draw unfold. I have to say though I am glad I grew up in an age of the Monday lunchtime draw on Radio 2. All your school chums huddled around the transistor radio as it cackled to discover who your team was playing. Round 3 particularly exciting. A different era but a more enjoyable one in my opinion.

That was such a laugh when you beat that lot but then, I suppose if that match had been played prior to the Abu Dhabi oil money, you'd have probably been the favourites. 😀

Harrogate

Groups of excited Sixth Formers in School Uniforms gathered round a crackling Tranny during Monday School Dinners discussing the prospects of men in short shorts & hairy legs. Those were the days
