Collaborations: George Michael & Aretha Franklin - I knew you were waiting

Remix: DJ Cummerbund - Kelis' Milkshake over YYZ by Rush. It shouldn't really work but it does.

Isn't that a cover version though?

It's an original that heavily uses a Kate Bush sample from Cloudbusting. And it's absolutely fucking genius and the girl who plays the barmaid in the video would turn the gayest man straight, even if only for one night.

I could write a thesis on how brilliantly it nailed the sticky floor vibe of a South Wales workingmen's club and the cameo appearances and the naturalistic dialogue. It's a work of genius!

I'll have a listen. In my youth the band I played with had hundreds of gigs in Workingmen's Clubs, including South Wales.

Mel C, the only one of the Spice Girls who could actually sing.

Joan Osbourne does a brilliant live cover version of What Becomes of The Brokenhearted with The Funk Brothers, the original Motown session band. It’s 🔥

Mark Ronson has done so many great collaborations, but his collaboration with Amy Winehouse for ‘Valerie’ has to be one of the best.

As for remixes, one of the best has to be JXL v Elvis ‘a little less conversation’

"When you're gone" that she did with Bryan Adams was very good too.

Under Pressure by Bowie and Queen. Although I prefer the live version that's on YouTube with Bowie's bassist, Gail Ann Dorsey, taking Mercury's vocal part.

The remix by Sidewalks & Skeletons of Dose by Crim3s is fuckin intense. Probably the best Witch House remix.

The mash up of Bela Lugosis Dead by Bauhaus and Tear You Apart by She Wants Revenge is pretty amazing as well.

Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Bernard Sumner (New Order) and Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys) cane together as Electronic to bring us the pure pop perfection of Getting Away With It.

As a rule I'm not a big fan of remixes as I'd rather hear a song as it was originally intended so I'm struggling a bit. The only one that comes to mind right now is a remix of Massive Attack's Inertia Creeps done by James Dean Bradfield from the Manics.

Satisfaction Skank by Fat Boy Slim & the Rolling Stones is a great mash up

George Michael did a number of good duets and cover versions, so many that it’s hard to pick one, but I’ll go for I Can’t Make You Love Me, a cover of the Bonnie Raitt classic.

That was a cover version rather than a collaboration.

"Bring me to life" by Evervesance is a great track but recently I watched a collaboration of this song on yu tube, with Amy Lee from Evervesance and the Wagakki band..its fantastic..the use of traditional Japanese instruments in a rock song is awesome...

The 12” version of Tainted Love segues beautifully into Where Did Our Love Go? Hearing this song takes me back to sticky dance floors and dry ice in the nightclubs of my youth!

I just listened to 7 Seconds by Senegalese singer-songwriter Youssou N'Dour and Swedish singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry.

It's from 1994 and still sounds good.
