There's a place called Villefranche Sur-Mer in the south of France. Quiet, stunningly beautiful and the kind of place I'd happily retire to. Plus Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was filmed there.

What's yours?

Places I'd love to see for their pure scenic beauty:

Lofoten

Faeroes

Svalbard and Jan Mayen

Mongolia

There are loads more but I'm most drawn to rugged islands and mountains and big empty deserts.

Provincetown Mass. very gay and friendly. Everything closes around midnight. Great cruising at Dick Dock.

I rent a bike for the week as so many do. It’s one Main Street lots of sandy beaches I used to go twice a year but not during current administration.

It’s just fun and lots of galleries. Only a couple of chain shops. The rest are independents. Great Bars and the Tea Dance 4-7pm is a highlight.

Island hopping in Greece, especially the Cyclades. Takes me back to my early thirties. I suspect things aren't as romantic as they used to be due to too many tourists.

I've driven Cape Town to Knysna, stayed a couple of nights before the return drive. I agree, it's incredible, beautiful country.

Bermuda has to be in the top 10. Although very Americanised, it has to be one of the prettiest islands without the mass tourism of the Caribbean. Although the cruise ships do spoil it when they're in dock.

It's actually called the Menai Strait (singular) which connects Conwy Bay in the north to Caernarfon Bay in the south which are both parts of the Irish Sea that separates the Isle of Anglesey / Ynys Môn from the Welsh mainland,so technically an overseas province! 😅
