How can these charities afford the television (I thought TV would be misunderstood here) airtime let alone the prize money some offer for competitions. Sometimes commercial breaks are so depressing

Whilst the volume of advertisements of this nature do seem to be on the increase, it does demonstrate that somewhere, somebody or something could do with some help.

Your under no obligation to contribute and can always change channels or switch the TV off if its getting to much.

People don't need to see so many charity adverts. Perhaps a few .

I only give to proper charity shops.

They are all very busy.

I believe people who are charitable donate money without being reminded every two minutes

I have noticed that the “celebrity face” fronting up these advertisements seems to have reduced considerably in the last few years. It’s hard to take anyone serious holding out the begging bowl when they live in a tax haven. Expecting us to dig deep in our already empty pockets

Easy solution: Donkey meat, donkey sausage, donkey pie.

I try to help people, but I don't give or help any charities, beggars or the NHS.

Nearly all the charities are scams or destructive. Just look at the Lifeboats for example. The RSPCA puts down heathy dogs as well.

The only one that I think is genuine is the Air Ambulances, and that should be paid for by the government.

If its not charities, its some tired middle aged piece bleating on about cheap funeral plans so the grieving mourners can have a good piss up at someone's expense

I've had a regular monthly donation to Oxfam and Water Aid for decades now.

They are still short of water, and the Ox is still famished

Or tell them if they really cared they wouldn't be taking commission from their sales.

Let's hope neither you nor your family and friends need the services of the RNLI any time in the future then

Check how much the ceo's of these charities earn. Nuffield Health or Wellcome Trust earn between £400,000 - £1,200,000.

What really pisses me off now, are the charities who ask for a specific amount, implying anything less, they're not interested in. 'Please donate £29.95 today' to help.....

I only have £25 to spare so I don't bother, they get nothing, give it to charities who ask 'as much as you can spare'

I was also told from a reliable source that the executives from some of these charities only fly first class or if they have to slum it Business class.

An donation to the RNLI means you support illegal immigration.

"An donation to the RNLI means you support illegal immigration."

No it means you support saving lives at sea! They save countless lives each year - most of the people they save have been foolish to a greater or lesser extent but they don’t sit in judgment, they risk their own lives to save others.

RNLI have a station at Chiswick. Not many mariners at risk there, mainly dragging d*unks from the river at weekends

And I speak from a background of naval seamen, merchant navy and deep sea fishermen, so I do know what the RNLI is meant be about

I'll often give to the Air Ambulance, and to the RNLI if I visit one of their stations. Apart from that just the odd purchase at a charity shop.

What do you think about charities that support kids with cancer? Honestly, the best advice is to cut down on TV time and skip the steak every night. I haven't seen any of those ads since I've been lucky enough to live without a TV for over 15 years.
