Coventry

As we are coming into various cities pride days, do you think they are still relevant?

For me they just seem to be another corporate money making sell out that just seems to antagonise people these days.

What's your thought?

I don't bother with them. Nobody really cares if you're that way inclined nowadays.

I think to any young people struggling with their sexuality, seeing tens of thousands of people coming together in public who are open and happy can only be a good thing. Look at the recent case of that young boy who killed himself after being bullied about his sexuality. I, for one, do not feel we are at optimal tolerance as far as

sexuality is concerned in the UK. Until then, I will join the march every year I am able.

I agree but also that festivals are very corporate these days and probably the best thing I can do is just be out, gay and accepted.

Nah, but let the youngsters throw thier money at it and wave some flags and play dress up for the day. If anything, they've merely become an outlet for council virtue signalling.

Yeh everything is about making money. But people have a good old time so you kind of have to deal with it. Just like glasto, people try to fleece you for all your worth, but it's still great

It's a nice day out for youngsters and families.

Lost interest in it now myself. I don't really know why they still call it pride tbh.

But nice for them to party.

Without a pride parade, how will you signal your virtue, and bask in the virtue of your corporate overlords and teenage girls draped in naff rainbow flags?

To be honest we don’t go to the parade itself, just enjoy the party and whole atmosphere of the village.

Its not really like you read in the daily mail or how uncle nige tells you x

No because it’s just a party for heterosexuals and everything is commercial, expensive and has no true meaning

I do Pride - live near Blackpool and who doesn’t like to party in Blackpool ?

It gives people a chance to see other people like them and know that they’re not alone

It absolutely is still relevant giving those who don't feel like they have a voice or feel alone, that crucial support.

Especially in some areas of the country and the world that are trying to turn back the clock on individuals rights.

Despite the corporate crap, it's still a coming together of all sorts of gay persuasions that don't normally mix much.

Drag queens, leather men, student groups, unions, all sorts mixing and having fun. Not necessarily 'relevant' but still a good day out.

Was it ever? Like most of these movements they come way to late where will you find wholesale prejudice against gay or bi people anymore? same as racism apart from some individuals or religious groups discrimination like that went ways decades ago fighting so hard for something you already have seems counterproductive
