Ending after this season. I remember the days of Steve Ryder and Bob Wilson presenting when it was a must watch on Grandstand on Saturday lunchtimes.

It's a shame but it's been left behind in the current age.

Maybe if they stopped pushing woman's football, ( which is crap) got rid of the female presenters, except maybe Alex Scott, and covered the EFL as well as the Premiership it could have survived

Good since they allowed the women presenters to run the show it’s become more about them than the football itself it’s like they are deliberately trying to prove a point

Don’t care if it sounds sexist or not let men comment on Men’s football and Women on women’s football

Agree with this and it must be true.

It’s hardly like football isn’t now less popular so no demand, quite the opposite.

I love football but rarely watch it for the above.

Well said 👏 I’ve got no interest in Women’s football (my choice) whatsoever and certainly don’t want hear them talking about Men’s football especially when there is plenty knowledgeable former male footballers out there who have actually played the man’s game and know far more about it

It’s become more about politics than football.

I’ve no doubt some will disagree but if you ask most Male Football fans who they’d rather listen too talk about the game etc etc I guarantee they would say Male Presenters.

The fact they are ending the show speaks volumes

The reason being nowhere near as tough opponents as in the men’s game.

Put Man City arsenal Liverpool and Chelsea in the FA Vase. That’s about the equivalent of USA England Spain and Germany in any women’s competition.

That’s why lionesses win more.

Exactly 👍

The Women’s football will never be as big as the Men’s

It’s a version of football but it’s not the same as mens football.

I don’t search for women’s results but cannot help to see them and you routinely see results like Canada 14 Finland 9 and shit like that.

It’s bollocks

I think another reason it has dropped in popularity is the general lowering of the BBC viewing figures. There are so many more outlets now for fans to get their information and updates. The old days where BBC and ITV more or less had a monopoly on sport have gone for good.

As long as it's not Wayne Rooney...that guy is the worse commentator...can hardly string a sentence together, struggling to say anything decent, or just stating the obvious. Most of the time, if a clip is playing he just describes what is happening, not why or the repercussions.

"Here's so and so with the ball, and he loses it here to so and so, now so and so is running up the other end................with the ball

You're meant to be offering insight not doing the audio description for deaf people.

The last match of the day, he literally did that all the time, to the point he was struggling and you could tell by the change in the tone of his voice he was thinking...I'm talking complete drivel and I'm running out of things to say.

Then he hesitated and said...um I don't really know what to say now ....and he and the others started laughing.

He's got the intellect and vocabulary of a toddler.

It's a shame , a programme I have always enjoyed , one thing I have thought though is it's timing of Saturday lunchtime, when many football fans would already be on their way to a game and therefore wondered if a Friday evening spot would be better ,

On another subject ( which crossed my mind ) are the gay/ bi people who make misogynistic comments the same gay/bi people who get upset if they hear homophobic comments ?

The comments are not necessarily misogynistic- it might be a little disingenuous to say that

Whey man it’s getting ridiculous mate

Just keep the two things separate and let Men talk about the Man’s game and Women about the Women’s game

Christ they could even create a football focus targeted at the Women’s game and let the Female presenters present it 🤷🏻

I’ve got no interest whatsoever I listening to some women presenter talk about the Man’s game and as for them commenting don’t get me started 😂

Not wanting to be sexist, but unfortunately this is true in this particular case! The woke, women lead BBC just don't understand the mindset of the male viewers that used to watch Football Focus... MOTD will be the next to go as viewing figures plummet and Alan Shearer's contract expires! Any remind you of

Top Gear... the world beating, boys car show went the same way when the BBC miss-managed and sacked Clarkson! Womens woke BBC is killing the BBC!

Little point in paying a TV Licence... there is little or nothing left for blokes to watch on the BBC

Political Correctness & ‘Inclusion’ has ruined television………

I watch a lot of the Prem Rugby; you’ve got a Welsh woman (who is quite good & knowledgeable) but then you’ve also got an Irish woman who has a voice that sounds like a cat whining in severe pain. Without being too rude, she is fucking useless, asking dumb-ass questions & making ‘stating the bleeding obvious’ comments. Hopeless!🤣

The real reason it's gone is because it's been crap for decades not because they let a woman on. It's always been boring and rubbish in my lifetime, now there are masses of podcasts and YouTube shows that cover it better.

Have called out racism , misogynistic comments , homophobia at games , usually with the comment "come on it's not the 1960s"

Some of the comments on this thread I find quite staggering

There is obviously ( in my mind) still a problem with footballers not being able to say they are gay , can imagine they fear the reaction , any such footballer on FAB reading the "get back in the kitchen" type comments on here might think their fear might be right

I just find it really sad

Interfering busybodies who go out of their way to look for offence where none actually exists are also staggering.

A comment probably often heard in the 1960s

Watching Football Focus - and Saint & Greavsie - was part of my pre-match ritual. With so few Saturday 3pm kick offs nowadays that ritual ended a long time ago. I don’t remember the last time I watched it.

It must be difficult for BBC Sport to compete with 24 hour rolling sports news channels like SSN.
