Probably the most excruciating pain I’ve ever experienced. Had to end up going to A&E to get on top of the pain, before being transferred to another hospital. Had to get operation to remove it as it was too big to pass. I’ve had another 2 since then, but managed to pass them without to much discomfort

Had three ops in the past.

Still got a non obstructive small stone that's not changed in 8 years

Stones don't like acidic drinks.

Drink plenty of water with fresh lemon juice in it.

Absolutely the worst pain I have ever been in. I was incapacitated by spasms, had to have morphine (incl suppository), a stent and teh stone destroyed by laser. I pissed big blood clots for days afterwards - it was gruesome.

The only minor upside was that the Tamsulosin I had to take dilated all my vessels - made my cock massive for a while

I had them 20 years ago. Pissing blood twice was the scary part. Pain was like nothing before and I've had a burst appendix.

Small operation. Stent fitted. Eventually it passed.

Yes about 15 years ago. The worst pain ever and I've had my leg amputated in the past but the KS was much worse.

Had to have lothotripsy which was really uncomfortable, bit like flicking and elastic band into the same area of skin over and over.

It worked and they broke down into smaller stones but then I had to wait for them to pass. Middle of the night had to piss in a pot with gauze over it to catch the stone. As the flow started I could feel the stones moving and of course once you start to go you can't stop. I felt the stone all the way until it finally passed. It felt HUGE, it wasn't it was tiny, but fuck me felt like the size of a football coming out my bell-end.

Still get the odd twinge now and then.

So anyone who has suffered, i feel your pain.

Had my first 40+ years ago on holiday. Rushed hospital and kept for a week while they filled me with fluids and painkillers. Had several since. Last one got lasered to spit it up, not sure if passing lots of little bits was better or worse that passing the bigger stone. Drink loads is really all you can do along with pain management

I've had 3 episodes. The last one turned out to be a 3 cm staghorn and coupled with renal cysts and a lesion prompted one consultant to recommend I lose the kidney. As I already have CKD this would have resulted in my needing regular dialysis.

However, another consultant suggested I try taking Potassium Citrate and to my relief over a few weeks this dissolved the stone totally so no op needed.

Worth trying but it only works on uric acid stones. You can get it at any chemist.

What he said. But you will probably still need medical intervention.

I dissolved mine using the Coca Cola and asparagus method. You can find it online. Lots of sceptics but I was in agony and this worked for me. And quickly. Passed like small grains of sand and was painless.

Had my gallbladder out at 30. All good since.

I have had kidney stones on and off for the last 20 years. The first time they hit I was hospitalised as the pain was so unbearable. I was on morphine for 4 days till they passed, I have never experienced pain like it and I have had a compound fracture which on the pain scale was a 4 if the kidney stones were a 10. The specialist I was seeing recommended that if I noticed the symptoms starting again that I should drink a few cans of lager a night till they passed as lager dilates the pathways helping the stones to pass if they are relatively small and so far it has worked. For anyone with Kidney Stones, I hope you find the thing that works for you, I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy.

How to prevent kidney stones:

Drink enough water to prevent stone formation or flush smaller stones out.

Add citrate like lemon, lime juice to your water as it binds to calcium and helps block stone formation.

Reduce salt intake which can cause more calcium to enter your urine, creating stones. Avoid processed foods and added salt.

Eat enough calcium-rich foods which can bind with oxalate in your diet, stopping it from forming stones.

Reduce eating high-oxalate foods and animal protein which can cause stone formation.

Medical Therapy/treatment:

Doctors will prescribe pain-killers to relieve your pain

and

another alpha-blockers like Tamsulosin/Flomax to help pass stones faster

and

urinary alkalinizer eg. Potassium citrate can prevent kidney stones increasing urine pH and reduce stone crystallization.

For larger stones, shockwave lithotripsy (using sound waves to break stones) may be used.

Take care and hoping you recover soon.

Had them twice, and it THE most excruciating pain in the world. Both times hospitalised to have them removed and had a stent in. Having the stent removed is an odd sensation as you're awake as they remove the bugger via ya japs eye! Last time didn't help as I knew one of the fecking nurses helping remove it.
