Always off. Too expensive to get broken and they get in the way. Once out cruising I stepped out of the car and I'd forgotten to take them off. I popped them on the driver's seat. I came back from a very nice session in the woods. I forgot I'd put them there and say on them. So they were certainly more damaged than if I'd left them on
