I'll admit, having been brought up conventionally in the 60s and 70s when homophobia was still fashionable, I concealed those feelings even from myself although something inside me was much more excited about Jamie than the Doctor or TARDIS. Couldn't take my eyes off the screen when he was on.

He was OK in Emmerdale later but without the kilt I didn't feel quite the same about him
