My top three:

3. Good quality, sharp and well engineered nail clippers.

2. My shaving brush, I still prefer an old skool wet-razor soap shave and the brush is essential to get a good foam, and more environmentally cool than aerosol foam or gel.

1. By an absolute mile, the Czech glass nail file my wife got me for Christmas. She was tickled at how much I enthused about it, but if you're used to shitty old steel ones or worn out emery boards, genuine Czech glass is the bomb. It feels incredibly rough and abrasive and could probably be used to keep your nails short by itself, yet somehow it manages to leave them amazingly smooth as well.

Probably but the genuine ones are made in Czechia and they reckon Chinese knockoffs aren't as good. You can get the real ones on Amazon. They aren't all that expensive either.

#4 on my list would be my Wahl hair clipper set. Had it for years and the blades are still sharp and motor strong.

The first Wahl I had many years ago was a made in USA one, that thing was bullet and bombproof. Think my first wife must have kept it in the divorce and thereafter used it as dog clippers, but my current one is made in China (what isn't these days apart from Czech glass files?) yet retains the same qualities: good heft and solid feel, good steel blades and a motor that feels unbreakable.

Mine are similar priced ones and they work really well

When you get right up in the nose it doesn't half make some noise chopping away...like a chainsaw raking over an iron girder lol

A nose hair/ear trimmer, to keep Sherwood forest at bay

A good razor and balm.I use bulldog products.

I could do with something better for the dry hard skin on my feet, they don't tell you about that when you're younger.

At the moment I use a scalpel set and a rechargeable foot file, followed by an application of cream. If I don't keep on top of it my feet become cracked and sore.

CCS cream (Boots, Amazon etc) is brilliant stuff and will fix your hoofs in no time.

An electric nail file set from Lidl and a tub of hydromol. Also, wash feet with Aqeous cream which is only 1 pound at Poundland and really works.

My feet are clear and smooth . Pic on profile

Khiels moisturisers are fantastic and good value for money. Clinique face scrub is my favourite as well

I use Kiehls Age Defender products and they’re pretty good.

For dry skin on your feet I recommend O’Keeffe’s Healthy Feet Cream. It softens and protects dry, cracked skin and when used daily you will see visible results in a few days. It’s relatively cheap too.

My Remington trimmers lasted for a good few years, but when they were clapped out, i could do nothing with them. My Wahl Legend that replaced them were head and shoulders above in terms of quality.

And there is a UK site for ordering the full range of trimmers and spares - not that i have needed any yet.

Thanks for the foot cream recommendations, I've just placed a tub of O’Keeffe’s into my Amazon basket. I've used similar creams previously but just forget to use them. I'm really suffering at the moment as I've been in Egypt for two weeks, one left to go, and the sun, heat and swimming has really dried my feet up.

Whilst browsing I've noticed a few Czech glass foot files, I don't need a nail file. Any recommendation for a brand at all please?

I just got some O'Keeffe's Working Hands repair cream (in my job I get loads of micro-lacerations, glass is evil stuff and will open your skin up without you even feeling it, at first anyway, till you realise there's blood everywhere and it starts to sting).

Seems pretty good so far.

The nail file I've got is labelled Bona Fide Beauty, bought on Amazon. Maybe start there if they do them?

From my five minutes research, apparently it's all about the chemical etching process used to roughen up and harden the glass surface. Electron microscopy shows the texture up close. Whatever it is and however it's done, the result is epic. The most abrasive thing this side of a cat's tongue yet it still finishes things off smoothly

Thanks, I'd already seen those on Amazon, around £10 for the foot file. I'll get one ordered for when I'm back home.
