The Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) in the packet/bottle should state the temperature range within which it should be stored. If the car temperature is exceeding this, then I suspect it may degrade the medication. As to the level of degradation, I have no idea. I doubt even if you asked at the clinic if they could tell you. If there's contact info on the PIL for the pharma producers, then send them an email and ask. It's a decent question and should warrant an answer.

Meantime, I'd start looking for somewhere other than the car to store them. Yes, I know it's not always easy, but think laterally. You need to take it at least 2 hours before a meet, so you're not popping them just as you leave your car and head to the sauna/woods/mates house.

Honestly , I wouldn't store any medication or condoms the car. The heat will definitely affect the efficacy of the meds over time. I don't even keep sun-cream in the car for the same reason.

Look at alternatives safe spaces for the bulk of them. If you don't take it daily - you could store 2 tablets in a different bottle like vitamins in the car. Throw them out after a few weeks if not used and replace the 2 pills with fresh ones.

And if you do use them , make sure you take 1 pill for the 2 days post sex as usual.

Work/Play in London, live in Kent

I believe 24 degrees is the max so the summer may challenge that.

Depending on what you do for work - do you have an office or locker of your own? Can you store your supply there? You can use your gym bag or shaving kit for a small bottle with a week’s supply in.

All pharmaceuticals have storage instructions, including an upper temperature. Remember the temperature inside your car can get much higher than the outside temperature on a sunny day.

The PrEP I get always seems to be short dated so I wonder if it’s particularly susceptible to being stored incorrectly. It also has a sachet inside the bottle to absorb any moisture. I think I’d be careful to keep it in the optimal conditions.

I agree with the others...check the instructions, but even if it does say it, I'm pretty sure your car is going to be way hotter. Way way hotter.

Just not worth it...if it was headache tablets or hay fever and they didn't work because they had degraded ..big deal. But this is prep....

I'm not at home so can't check at the mo...I'm sure it's fine and this is being over the top cautious but...just check there's nothing about having to be used within a certain time once opened. I very much doubt it as it can be used event based not just taking daily.

If you have any questions on sexual safety and pharmaceutical issues a gay contact app is not the place to ask.

Neither is John at Wetherspoons.

The sensible place and persons to ask who know these things are your pharmacist, your GP or your sexual health clinic or web sites run by the NHS.

Please be sensible I doubt there are many people on here who are professionals in health care and it would be unethical for them to give advice unless they are qualified in this subject and give the advice in a clinical setting.

Unqualified people are or may be ballshitters.

I been reading the little leaflet which is in box. It doesn't say that it needs to b stored this degree or that degree.

Just in dry place it does say in original box tho.

I think the idea of being in the original box is so that the contents match the label, avoiding people taking something by mistake

I think it's a good idea to keep in original packaging as that has the use by date on it. if you tip tablets into another container and do not keep the original packaging or make a note of the date you may not be protected.

To all those on here who seek medical advice this is a dating site. There are many complaints about time wasters, no shows, image collectors and foolish annoying behaviours. Do you think their behaviour and misdirection would change if it were a medical issue?

You are safer if you follow the advice of professionals.

I wouldn't put that many in one bottle, prep tends to degrade pretty quickly, 5 or 6 weeks once the airtight seal has been broken.

Why would an employer be bothered if you're on Prep - they wouldn't have any legal justification to do anything about it

If you take other prescription medication that is pills in a bottle, you could transfer Prep pills into said bottle when it is empty.

Pills are pills, if the label says it is for something other than Prep then I am sure anyone looking would assume they were for that.

The only thing I'd add to that is that that replacement bottle should be ideally something that would not readily be used by anyone else. Yes, if it's prescribed for you, it legally shouldn't be used by someone else, but sometimes people bend the rules.
