Got mild diabetes 2 . Cut toe nail and slightly nicked skin. A little blood but used a steriwipe and cleaned it straightaway. Applied lose plaster.

Seems ok. Any one else do this and didn't have a problem?

Yes. Not a problem, but seek professional advice if it doesn’t heal quickly.

I don't understand why it should be a problem at all. I crossed into Type 2 a few years ago but sorted myself out by regularly exercising and swimming. I'm now well under the blood sugar level for diabetes, and feel a whole load better for being fitter.

Agreed, a friend ignored a cut on his toe and eventually ended up having it amputated. Definitely keep av close eye on it and follow up promptly if not healing.

This forum is open to discuss any subject.

Not for you, to tell him what to do. He was just asking other guys, if they had any similar problems.

I'm Type 1. Being diabetic in and of itself doesn't always cause complications. It's the poor blood sugar control that may result from the disease that causes complications. If your control is good and you're otherwise healthy, then a small cut won't be a problem. Just keep an eye on it to be safe.

You've taken the right steps by using a Steriwipe, keeping it clean and covered. Just keep an eye on it until it's fully healed.

I also have Type 2 diabetes and see a podiatrist every 10 weeks. She checks my feet for any issues, trims my nails, and gives them a massage. They feel so refreshed afterwards — it’s like walking on air. She uses Swedish "CCS Foot Care Cream", which you can buy online (via eBay). It’s absolutely marvellous for soothing feet.

Feet can be troublesome with Type 2 diabetes, so it’s well worth looking after them for your own comfort and peace of mind.

Interesting comment; is this just a site for sex? Or is it a site where gay/bi ect. arrange meets and chat about the gay community and anything that concerns them?

Do gay people only chat about gay sex... or do they have the intellect and desire to chat/discuss other subjects on here?

Stop eating Carbs , stop consuming anything with sugar in , research Ketogenic diet or carnivore, stick to it and you will stop it in its tracks , it’s a progressive issue, it will always be there just waiting to bombard your organs with dead blood cells, you can’t cure it, but you can put a stop sign up ! research food, stop eating processed rubbish , good luck !

There’s nothing quite like stating the obvious to those already know it. Preaching to the converted.

I’m type 2, my count went up to 52. But I got it down to 41 by following advice from the ‘glucose goddess’.

Type two is a life style change not a noose round your neck, it can easily be rectified by changing your eating habits ,Doctors are all to quick to prescribe medication , which people thing it’s ok.

I’m on medication sadly you’ve still got to change your eating habits as the medication doesn’t do it alone, something Doctors fail to explain, they continue to up the medication dose doing your body no good at all .

Every thing other than protein meat off the bone, turns to sugar when you eat it ,there is a system of low GI index foods that you can eat which has reduced sugar levels allowing you to eat good food without starving. Your Doctors have all the information but it’s easier to write a prescription for Metformin than education there patients .

Whilst I can't fault your advice, I managed to lose a hell of a lot of weight and also reverse Type 2 diabetes whilst still carrying on with a less then perfect diet with plenty of carbs. This was done by taking up strenuous exercise several times a week, it really works.

That’s inappropriate.

Look after your feet mate as a diabetic your immune system is already challenged so be careful cutting toenails, aggressively treat any skin or nail infections and any open wounds on your feet. Common sense rules apply and don’t forget your pharmacist is a good first port of call. If the would doesn’t heal in a reasonable time frame or shows signs of infection call the doctor.

My Dr advised me not to cut my own toe nails as it could be dangerous if you cut your skin it could lead to amputation. He said I should get them cut by a chiropodist as can keep an eye on your feet.

Thank you. Yes, it seems ok. No heat, redness or pain. Taken plaster off today. Tiny ooze on it. Very clean.

Letting it air today. Was very small. Clippers my podiatrist gave me caused it as I should have been more careful. I go about every 5 weeks normally see the podiatrist. Otherwise, I have nice feet apart from somewhat painful neuropathy occasionally.

Dr wants me to try duloxetine, but I'm not sure .

My pharmacist can barely string 2 words together and when I call to collect a prescription, it can take 10 minutes rifling through shelves to find it.....

T1 since teen years

Around 3-4 years ago I punctured a toe whilst cutting my nails with scissors - I never felt a thing & only knew when I trailed blood on the laminate & realised what I’d done - treated it plastered it -took it off a few days later and toe was a mess - so went to A&E (by passed GP) explained med history etc

They sorted it & arranged for me to see chirpody & been getting my toenails cut by their service since

Good luck going forward

Hope you are healing okay?

Type 2 myself. Seen both a podiatrist and the Diabetic Nurse today for various things.

Have been told to rest for a couple of days too with what I have had done today

Also my GP changed one of my statins recently, my gliflozin and my glucose injection. So I guess I can be expected to be tired for a short while.

Happy to message privately if you want to chat about Diabetes.
