As a resident of Staffordshire, I can confirm this.

But Turkeys will still vote for Christmas.

Understand why some may vote Reform but I can see it all ending in tears as Farage is just a ego driven self centred man who will say anything to gain popularity

Mind they do have a big following and I’d be very surprised if they don’t win in my area Sunderland and South Tyneside

Labour has been in charge of Wales since the dawn of time .

I never thought I'd live long enough to see today when they are beaten into third place .

But just my luck the winners Plaid Cymru believe it or not will be even worse than labour .

Our little country is done for unfortunately.

And just remember if you are voting Reform to stop the boats because Nidge says he will then just remember that before Brexit we could send the boats back.

Because of Brexit we had to leave the Dublin accord and the leave vote helped achieve that.

Remember the Calais Camp ?

That went in January 2020.

After 31st january 2020 we were unable to send the boats back and the people smugglers,French police,Nigel Farage and The Conservative Government knew this.

So dont blame Labour for the boats.

Blame the Referendum and its outcome.

i don't disagree with your second sentence. It is, however, only fair to point out that none of the party leaders seem to have received the memo on the first.

Make no mistake: local elections are used as a signal to national government, always have been, and Westminster knows it. They're all canvassing support in the local elections.

This may delude some of the local candidates into believing that they're far more important than they really are. They will receive a sharp correction when they attend their first council meeting and discover that bin collections and potholes are prominent features on the agenda.

You misspelled fascist antichrist

No genuine anarchist would vote for Reform, unless you’re the walking contradiction that is John Lydon, the same man who once sang about anarchy in the UK while railing against the political class. An anarchist, by definition, believes society should function without central government or imposed authority. Make your homework on what means what before you put your stamp down.

Nothing to with Human Rights and the ECHR.

More to do with our place within the,United Nations and the Refugee Council.

Dont forget the Human Rights Act is my Act.It protects me and my family.

What this country needs is a proper, nationwide effort to explain things clearly to everyone, regardless of political leanings. What terms actually mean, how parties differ, which elections people are voting in, how the system works, and what they are really choosing.

There’s a clear trend of people misusing and misunderstanding basic political language. It’s hardly surprising when a significant portion of the population (1 in 4 British Citizens) struggles with functional literacy, but that only makes the need for clear, accessible civic education even more urgent.

I'm voting Reform just as a protest against Labour and the Tories being basically the same party and thinking the public are too thick to notice

I'm aware Reform is promising the moon but it's shocking how bigoted and closed minded many l lot of people are towards Reform calling them racists and bigots (the irony) instead of just rationally disagreeing with their policies like normal people. It's very odd.

I think the Left has had so much cultural and social power for so many decades they just think anyone who disagrees with them must be a Fascist - some of them actually describe Reform as 'Fascist' It's bizarre.

The so called Reform Party is nothing but a Faragite Cult. Essential founded by Farage and his adoring minions. Tice was its leader but quickly stood down to make way for the Farage. No election. Here in Wales Reform didn't have a leader [wonder what happened to Farage's pal Nathan Gill?] then suddenly Farage foists the former Conservative leader of Barnet Council as Reform's top dog in Wales. No election. Just a fait accompli from the Fuhrage. This puppet appointee, Dan Thomas, is Welsh by birth but that's about it. Had about as much charisma as a dead . No wonder he is being referred to as the 'Plastic Taffy'

===========================================

i agree, and i would say the earlier that happens the better. i used to believe, without any detailed knowledge, that because the USA had a lesson called "civics" in their schools, they had the edge on us in that respect. An entire school course, devoted to explaining the structure of government, judiciary and public institutions, with exams they were supposed to pass, should surely instil some kind of critical awareness of the political system of the country they live in.

And yet ... What The Fuck Has Happened, America? i suppose there are several issues involved. First: you can take a horse to water ... but if it wants to sit in the back row wanking, looking at comic books, flicking ink pellets, and dreaming of being a rock star, there really isn't a lot a teacher can do about it. That's a lost opportunity for a fair slice of future voters, who are fallow ground for any huckster that comes along and tells a good tale.

But as for the rest of those kids, all political parties recognise what a fruitful environment the school is for nurturing political attitudes. They always have; that's why it's such a political football. The Nazis, among others, knew it very well. For politicians, there is a choice between three alternatives:

1. Get their own ideology entrenched in the curriculum. And there is always as ideology; no such thing as neutral.

2. Try policing the system through influencing the curriculum, staff appointments, and availability of educational materials.

3. The last resort: claim that education should be "non partisan", so politics must not play any part at all in education.

Currently, of course, US MAGA is ploughing through their education system with 1 & 2, while as far as i know the UK is still stuck on option 3.

So much for education. The disgraceful state of the mainstream media, and the way in which they have abegnated their responsibilities, is of course enough for a far longer post than this one. And then there is social media, which denies that it has any responsibilities for anything at all apart from making money.

I agree.

The only people that can remove Kier until 2029, are labour MPs.

As you say there are no worthy candidates to replace him.

Labour will lose local council seats, as every government does in mid term local or by-elections.

As the political landscape is so split, it just might not be so bad for Labour as predicted.

Starmer, might just be around for a while.

For the first time ever, I spoilt my ballot paper today.

Drew a big, thick, diagonal line across the paper with "NOPE" written above it.

I don't trust any of them any more. They're all in it for themselves. All they've done for the last 30 years, is make most of us poorer. None of them are leaders, just bosses trying to micromanage every aspect of our lives (for our own safety, of course).

Meanwhile, the money just keeps on drifting upwards and upwards, into the hands of the billionaire oligarchs, who - through their corruption of politicians across the planet - have effectively formed an unelected, global, shadow regime.

"Keir gone by the weekend or the “ We are listening , we inherited …….”trope?

Any old excuse shite will be trotted out.

Luckily for Keir there isn't a worthy replacement in their ranks.

He managed to keep Burnham out."

Andy Burnham has, during the last few days, been cleared by Labour's executive, to stand for parliament. If he does return via a by-election, he could well end up as PM before the 2029 election. Could be a massive blow to Farage's bubble. Although Kemi has many good points she could well be replaced as leader of the Conservatives by someone a bit more dynamic. Another blow to the faragites. Wishful thinking I know but anything is possible.

"For the first time ever, I spoilt my ballot paper today.

Meanwhile, the money just keeps on drifting upwards and upwards, into the hands of the billionaire oligarchs, who - through their corruption of politicians across the planet - have effectively formed an unelected, global, shadow regime."

Exactly 👍

I agree, it's also a a massive mess and all councils currently being ran by them are sinking ever further into mess.

Without being harsh the councils that reform have taken over were already in a state already so they have only inherited a pile of shite

And you expect what?? To turn shite into silver overnight?

And then everyone will complain when council tax rises

I wouldn’t matter who took over the councils ! The shit that most are in just isn’t a easy quick fix

For the record I won’t be voting for reform full stop ! "

Precisely.

In the same way Labour are expected to spin over a decade of Tory mismanagement straw into gold in under 2 years.

Sorry I don’t agree with your statement being anything near the same as mine

Labour seem to have got power and decided everything the tories done was wrong so have attempted to do the polar opposite!

Which hasn’t worked

We won’t mention the U turns

Or that starmar has allowed himself repeatedly look like the clown he is on the world stage

Or Labours pre election campaign where they promised truth! And scandal after scandal from labour ministers

Labour lied their way to leadership

And have not delivered a single thing from their manifesto and will leave the uk in a worse state than they found it exactly the same as they did last time and the time before

How long is reasonable before we should see change for the better in your opinion ?

Because since labour got elected i can honestly say I’ve not seen a single thing improve

Bills up

Taxes up

Everything is inflating and not a single positive change

I’m not saying anything is easily fixed

But Labour just keep adding to the problems instead of fixing them

Judge Labour on their promises. That's all.

On that basis...

Housing targets missed.

Gilt borrowing at 30 year highs, means deficit targets will be missed.

One in one out boat migrant policy is a total failure.

Inflation is well above target.

Growth targets will also be missed.

Forget perfect. It's not even good.

A simple google will give you that answer. Many members of reform have been seen to post racist slurs including the leader of reform himself whilst he was in public school.

To be fair it might be a good thing if they win alot of councils.

When they mightly fugg them all up it will kill their chances in a general election

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again…

The surge in support for Reform (and Greens) is the result of what the Tories and Labour have failed to do, listen to, and take a accountability for… over at least two decades.

Brexit was ‘a warning shot’ that signalled a changing voter mood, expectations, and satisfaction. But, instead of listening and changing, the ‘political-class’ merely ignored the electorate and doubled down on both their unpopular agendas and we-know-best ‘progressive’ approach.

Farage and Polanski are not winning support per se, the main parties are driving their supporters away.

What is unfolding is a democratic-revolution; a (thankfully peaceful) desire by many to ‘overthrow’ an establishment that is no longer trusted, seen to be representative, nor tackling the issues important to the everyday Jo(e).

Nothing to with Human Rights and the ECHR.

More to do with our place within the,United Nations and the Refugee Council.

The European Human Rights Act is an extension of that.

If we leave we join Belarus and Russia as our friends in the North.

Doesn't Reform have a bad track history of councillors going back on their promises immediately or getting suspended/quitting for being racist or the like?

Not to say that Labour isn't also problematic but a lot of the new councillors seem like a bunch of nobodies with no experience in community outreach or politics in general.

"Labour are going to be smashed like a tomato today

Yep hopefully the start of Starmers downfall 🙏

And the countries when reform are in power. The worst of the tories with a bunch of racists

Where’s the proof that reform are racist and are you including those who vote for them racist too?. He has no proof. Just a lefty woke rant lol

Sorry Dave but it is not just a left rant. Whilst I cannot quote individual cases this 'Righty' has seen several Reform candidates exposed for racist, homophobic and other unpleasant views. Some got expelled from the Party but others still got endorsed. Fair comment. But I think you can apply that to any party you choose. Tories and liebour are wide open for thatyou have spelled Labour wrong again

Of course he did. He forgot the 'hard' prefix. It should always be 'Hard Labour' "

"Have they suspended their first candidate, post election yet?

Can't be long now.

Plus all the by-elections come July and August when the new councillors realise council work is about mundane things and they have no powers to stop boats other than splash-cats on the local artificial lake.

Or the changes of leadership.

Staffordshire is on the third in a year after the first one was suspended for racist Twitter posts and the second one quit after racist Tik Tok posts emerged.

The current one has managed 2 months so far, we'll see how much further he gets.

Oh, did I mention the appalling incompetence? It's enough to make me yearn for the previous Tory administration and you know what a big fan I am of the Tories! 🤣 You have not mentioned Mandelson. Or the blocking of a free vote regarding Starmers involvement in this pedophile scandal??. Sure it just slipped your memory 🤣🤣

Yes. In a thread about the local elections and Reform, I relayed my experience of the last 12 months of living in one of their regimes.

But congratulations on posting the weirdest non sequitur of the day so far. bIbsee , so you want to protect labour and the appalling Starmer by not answering the question. Sounds straight out the Starmer book of leadership. I drew a reasonable comparison to gain a balance. Future potential government verses the current. You choose not to answer. Says it all "

I treated your question with the contempt it deserved, loaded with your usual dishonest premise as it was.

Cathy Newman is a bit more subtle than that. Try harder, grey pants.

Anyone that doesn’t believe the uk political system needs a shake up needs their head read.

All previous party’s since the Maggy Tory era were been a corrupt failure.

The UK was going down a dark path and at the next election Reform will probably have a landslide but in an ideal work we need Restore to give the big shake up we need.

13 percent of degree level educated would consider voting Reform. Not saying you need a degree to succeed but it is an indicator that many of their voters are low achievers. And many of them happy to blame foreigners for their own failure. Saddos who spend their time climbing lamposts to fly tatty Chinese made flags instead of bettering themselves.

People on here voting reform or restore are mad. Once they’ve run out of immigrants who will get the blame next? It won’t be long before they come for gay and bi people.

Get your head out of the cult for a minute and have a look at who Nigel Farage really is. Fascism always needs someone to blame.

What do you suggest is done? Reform voters don’t listen to facts or reason. It’s all

About how Farage and Co make them feel. The same as with MAGA in the US - it is a cult. It is incredibly frustrating watching people be brainwashed and I can understand people venting their frustrations online.

I don't know. But clearly enough people believe he is for his party to do as well as it has. Rather than reflect on why that might be and actually do something positive about it, insulting people is the order of the day. As if that won't make his supporters harden against you even more.

When are you all going to realise this isn't about Farage? Just like it wasn't about Trump in the US. It's about people being so fed up of the current system they will vote for anyone who says they will change it. A lot of them KNOW things won't change, but they are desperate and see no other options available to them.

Keep insulting them and they'll keep drifting further and further into radical beliefs. Then you'll really have a problem.

You're right, but I was specifically referring to people who keep calling everyone they don't like a fascist. They're creating their own worst enemy. A lot of people already don't care about being called a bigot. The word has lost all meaning from overuse.

It's hard not to envision a possible future where the response to "You're a fascist!" is "Yeah, so what?" as the latter person lines the former against the wall and blows their head off.

I'm not sure that reform doing well will impact labour. The Tories will likely lurch to the right leaving the racist vote split. Where labour will likely lose will be localised to the snp or plaid cymru both of which are pretty hard left and likely to be willing to go into coalition with labour. The increasingly hard right will be left out in the cold whining about foreigners again.
