I feel for you all. However, as you will probably be aware, this will only be temporary, they will mess it up in no time at all, just have they have with every single council they won last time around.

Don't think so mate. These are council elections, no effect on parliament at all. I live under a deform county council, it really is absolute chaos. Thankfully in around 18 months or so, the elections for the new unitary authorities will be taking place, we all know that deform, if they still exist, will have messed up so badly in so many areas, they won't have a chance in hell of taking anything.

Are you going to be starting one of these stupid threads for each and every one of Labour’s disastrous council losses..? Could be a busy 48 hours for you…

No, I'm not... I'm just pointing out that people will reap what they sow, just as they have in every other council area where they took control nearly 2 years ago.

"No, I'm not... I'm just pointing out that people will reap what they sow, just as they have in every other council area where they took control nearly 2 years ago. "

Well, the 2025 Local Elections were, unsurprisingly, a year ago.

Clearly some people in the country were of the view they reaped what they sowed when they put the Labour Party in charge of the country in 2024. And are dramatically looking to change things. Whether they will rue that decision, we shall see. The results show already they rue having Labour in charge.

Clearly your going on and on about “Deform” wasn’t that big a factor in changing hearts and minds.

And as I said, I live under a deform county council, absolute chaos. Roll on the elections for the new unitary authorities, they won't retain a single council.

I have no dog in this hunt, I'm a political but this has paralels to the Dems in the USA.

Trump wins a free and fair election, democracy at work, and the Dems bitch about a Narcissistic, incompetent racist being president.

Same with Reform, an apparently shambolic extreme right wing party led by a racist grifter wins a free and fair election.

But here's the kicker, your parties couldn't field candidates to beat them.

No introspection, no examination, just mud slinging and name calling the electorate, who have exercised their democratic rights.

Is there any wonder you keep losing.🙄🙄

I think with the performance of Kier and his cronies, the nation is already aware of “ reaping what they have sown”

The only good thing about Reform doing well and taking over councils is that when they fuck-up and prove how incompetent they are, it might well damage their chances come the general election in 3 years time.

One day, people will learn that insulting voters because they didn't vote the way you want to just makes them double-down, not magically flip to your side.

But clearly not today.

People voting for the same party for 30/40 years, watching the local area going down the pan and wondering why, then called far right, fascist and "deformed" for wanting change.

Some real fruit cakes about.

They were probably aristos, fleeing from Madame Guillotine ... perhaps the French could loan them one.

A lot of people nowadays are pathologically altruistic. Addicted to the idea of feeling superior to the people around them. While (not so secretly) being incredibly nasty to anyone who disagrees.

For example, I hate Kier Starmer. But I don't want him dead. I just want him to fuck off. Meanwhile I've seen dozens of supposedly "good" people talking about wanting to execute Farage.

Farage just fucking off to join his mates in the USA would be fine by me. Maybe he could share a cell with Trump eventually.

There's more chance of me getting a message from someone who actually read my profile first than either of them going to prison. But I can at least appreciate that you're levelheaded and not foaming at the mouth wishing political opponents dead. It's a slippery slope. What if Farage got into power and WAS assassinated? Does that then make it OK for his supporters to start executing Labour or Tory MPs? When would that end? Not trying to sound like the Joker here but civilisation is a veneer. It takes less than you think for it to flake away. And what's underneath? Extreme violence. I'm sure nobody but the true nutters really want that.

Exactly, and we are all entitled to our own opinions. I'm just putting my opinion forward, everyone else seems to do so.
