Although cornflakes weren't created specifically to stop people masturbating, Kellogg did believe that meat and seasoned/spicy food caused sexual desire and would lead to masturbation, which itself would lead to various physical and mental ailments. He advocated a bland, fibre-rich, vegetarian diet, which cornflakes would be part of.

OK, lets put the cornflakes theory to bed. They were invented by John Harvey Kellog, who was a seventh day adventist, and a proponent of eugenics. He was also opposed to smoking, alcohol and sexual activity. He belived that control of the gut flora would help reduce these activities. He also promoted Yoghurt enemas. You can read about it here.
