I was thinking about this today. I was up my allotment and was asked what I do with all the stuff I grow. I said well what I can't use myself I I give away to neighbour's food bank. Etc. But got me thinking about how much we waste. Groceries. cooked food.fuel on unnecessary trips just astonishing when its added up xx

Agree, and I have that free app called flightradar, when you look at all the planes flying at any one time it really makes you think, so we all really need to fly this much ? Don’t get me wrong, I’m no environmentalist, but all those planes, it’s staggering, you just don’t realise !

Milliband wants to ban condenser dryers because they are wasteful on energy.

Hmm , tell me how many thousands of hours you have to run a dryer like this before it matches up with just one of the thousands of missiles launched in Iran and Ukraine.

I'm pretty good with food waste generally, get the most out of any meat veg I buy, grew up on a farm and it was the way I was brought up.

BUT

I got a bit caught out at Easter. It was those offers that sone supermarket do..bag potatoes 6p... parsnips 6p etc.

At the time I had lots of family visiting for a couple of weeks around Easter. I ended up buying 4 bags of potatoes etc and I remember thinking at the time..oh it doesn't matter if they don't get eaten they only cost 6p.

We ended up eating out a lot so less than half got used.

It dawned on me what a terrible way to think and risk all that food waste.

I bet there were loads of people who bought well over what they could use just because "it's only 6p"

I couldn't do it so managed to freeze a lot of veg and just ate potatoe after potatoe for two weeks, potatoes with every meal even some breakfasts 🤣🤣

I'm so sick of potatoes

I don't waste much. I'm not badly off but was brought up poor. And with goods, if a charity shop or Oxfam can use it, they get it.

My Uncle Albert said during the war it was eligible to waste food and if you was caught by Warden Hodge's or The local Policeman you were up in front of the magistrate the following morning.

"

Milliband flew twice to a "climate change" conference in South America due to diary commitments. Avoid paying any attention to him as often as possible.

Utterly cretinous arsehole who could be Prime Minister in a few days.

I’m lucky that I live alone and can choose. I waste NOTHING, I can live at any time for a fortnight on the bare minimum in my cupboards. I only cook what I need.

Almost zero

Birds get bread with the seeds

If fruit starts starts going off it goes cut up for the flowers

If veg gets wasted it goes in compost bin

I wank 2 or 3 times everyday.

A waste of all my sperms. Perhaps I should wank on a bowl, then mixed with water and swallow my sperms back instead of wasting my sperms full of high nutrients.

Do you think it is a good idea?

Waste shows us where society is being wasteful, but it also pushes us to find better ways of doing things.

On one side, waste is a sign something’s gone wrong. We use up energy, money, and raw materials, then throw them away in places that can’t break them down. That damages the environment and wastes money. It shows we haven’t planned well for the fact that Earth’s resources aren’t unlimited.

On the other side, dealing with all that rubbish has forced us to get smarter. We’ve had to invent better ways to reuse and recycle. That’s how ideas like the circular economy came about—where old materials get treated as useful resources, not just trash. By moving away from the old “take-make-waste” model and using green tech and closed-loop systems, we’re turning a big problem into a chance to innovate.

So while waste is a downside of how we live, it’s also what’s pushing us toward a cleaner, more sustainable way of living.

The planes are going to and from different places though, with different people on board.

I have a heat pump condenser dryer, I thought they were more economical.

Food-wise I rarely waste anything. Don't buy what I am unlikely to eat. Veg waste e.g. peelings, outer leaves etc. go into compost. This morning I had to pour about half a pint of milk away from a two litre plastic bottle. It had 'gone off' but when I looked at the 'best before date' it was May 5th.

I make soup from veg that gas gone past its prime but is not "off"

Have to admit, since my council started to collect food waste separately with its own bin I am amazed how much vegetable waste my partner and I generate in one week

As for politicians flying to green and eco summits , we all know its utter bollocks

And when did you last see a member of the Royal Family on public transport ???
