He played it way too safe and depended on defense; if you don't take risks in the World Cup, you're going to be eliminated.

"Nice one Chubbsy."

If they show up in that group as a second team, they'll likely face Holland, which takes us back to the 1978 World Cup. Scotland had such an amazing team back then with Jo Jordan and Archie Gemmill.

By all accounts we had an even better team in 1974. Glorious failure then as well. Billy Bremner's painful stab at goal.

And if you go all out attack you might not get out of The Group Stage

Southgate won more knockout games than all the other managers added together

As an Australian now living in the UK I hope that England’s Men never win another major trophy and are eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the first possible opportunity.

Any other manager besides Southgate would have clinched the title with the amazing players he had, but he kept them on the bench. He only brought them in during the last 4 or 5 minutes of the game, and they managed to win by small margins. The style of football they played was incredibly dull, making it easy to doze off in between plays. In a tournament like this, finishing second is a solid achievement, but it doesn't really count as a title, and honestly, no one keeps talking about who came in second in the World Cup. Sometimes it's just luck based on the group you end up in, so it wasn't solely Southgate's doing that got them to the final; it was also the individual brilliance of the players and some fortunate draws. For instance, Germany has been the runner-up at the FIFA World Cup four times, but nobody talks about that; everyone just remembers them as four-time World Cup champions. That's the reality, and no one even asked Southgate to manage a team after he left.

Looks like it could be a washout.

I've seen some detailed analysis on YouTube.

Hhotel groups in many of the US host cities are reporting booking are running at either similar to, or below 2025 levels.

Part of that has to be due to the extortionate room rates they've been advertising. For example, in Seattle, 200 to 300 dollar rooms at $1,500. The normally free (for ticket holders) stadium carpark will be closed, and day tickets for nearby carparks set at $200.

Buses from the airport to the stadium charging $150 or more for a trip that normally costs $12.

A FIFA sponsored website is advertising tickets at as much as $6000 for the semi-finals. In Quatar the eqivalent tickets were set at arpund £200 to £300.

Im checking out the situation in Canada and Mexico, but it looks like neither country is aiming to exploit fans like US cities hotels and transport are.

How about the people who came to London for the Olympic Games? Did you know that during the London Olympic Games, hotel prices generally increase by 100 percent to 300 percent compared to regular rates? Four-star and five-star hotels in Central London often impose significant surcharges, with average nightly rates easily surpassing $400 to $1,000, depending on their distance from the Games. Consider the prices for the Premier League and Champions League; what do you think about that? Attempt to purchase a ticket for the Liverpool match against Manchester City / Arsenal / Manunited / Cup finals ; see if you can find one initially. If you wish to express criticism, you should direct your accusations towards FIFA, as they are the ones manipulating ticket prices, not the USA. There are no genuine football fans left anymore; most true fans are now watching football from home.

Let us begin with the initial match predictions. Mexico versus South Africa. I would predict a score of Mexico 3, South Africa 1, considering that Mexico is the host.
