It's politics.. even more so now than ever with all the withdrawals due to Israel's entry but yet our 'non biased' broadcaster is happy to go ahead

I must confess there wasn’t much I enjoyed by catching up on semi 1(I didn’t watch live because of all the insane chat).

There wasn’t much in the way of hunky topless men to look at either so hoping for better in semi2.

Eurovision song contest is only awful TV if you don't like it or dont want to watch it.

It's only on three days a year and many people do like it.

I love opera which is never played on TV but understand other people don't like Opera, as an example

The Eurovision song contest and I have grown apart. I used to love it as a kid. Had some great parties in my twenties. Now, I'll give it a miss.

This is the reason it’s pointless to me.

Although I’ve been following Look Mum No Computer for about 8 years. I’ll find out how he did the following day. No need to sit through that.

It’s cheap television!

Nearly 9 hours of prime time television for which the BBC pays around £1m - that’s two episodes of Eastenders covering 1 hour!

I really don’t see the problem with it. It’s a light hearted, light entertainment programme, in the guise of a competition.

It’s not really a competition, just a moneymaking scheme. That’s why the tv companies push it so hard, just so you will vote and spend money.

As long as you realise that’s the case, then it’s just harmless fun.

It's not Eurovision because Australia is in it. Where in Europe are they located!!!

But IMO all the songs are crap anyway. Unless I'm too old to appreciate them.

(I think not).

"I agree it's awful, song contest my a*** . The only good thing about it is that the voting shows why it was right to leave the EU. "

You can't participate in a song contest with a terrible voice, awful tune, and poor lyrics.Just making noise, won't help you win and expect everyone in Europe to vote for you. I understand that 90 percent of the songs sound alike, but at least have one redeeming quality to attract more votes.

I don’t know why we bother. The hype from the BBC on TV and radio can’t disguise the fact that it’s been politicised.

We have a thriving music scene in the UK, regardless of whether modern music is to your taste, yet we struggle, it’s baffling.
