Hi I’ve never been to Cornwall before and I’ve heard many people say it’s lovely.

Can anyone recommend somewhere nice and also somewhere for small families

Thanks

If you’re a small family you probably wouldn’t be able to see over the hedgerows.

Cornwall is lovely , depends what you want, Newquay commercialised , but good for surfing etc, also Padstein ,If you want ripping off , although that goes for most of Cornwall, South Coast, Mevagissey ,nice little fishing village, as I said depends what you want , do a bit of googling ,if you go by car make sure it's a small one , those laxative lanes can be quite scary at times,

Never heard the roads being called "laxative lanes" before

Really depends what you're looking for OP, plenty of moorland if you want somewhere quiet, but Penzance, St Ives, Hayle are all nice coastal areas & Bude is worth considering if you are looking for a beach based break. Newquay very commercialised but good for surfing with plenty of beaches.

Looe is quite nice, as is Mevagissey, Fowey, St Mawes & Falmouth on the S coast.

Truro is the main shopping centre & fairly central. If anyone suggests St Austell, I'd ignore them. Very little left there now by way of shops

A few National Trust properties and Pendennis, St Mawes, At Catherine's (Fowey) & Launceston castles are all English Heritage. Usually plenty of things going on in Summer through Cornwall.

Sadly, prices for everything has shot up, especially accommodation so do your research.

As a yocal I'm happy to advise but need to know more about want your looking for and what you like to do. Generally the north coast has the big sandy beaches but very commercialised. South Coast is more picturesque with lots of little villages and coves.

Not far away is a bit subjective... if you are staying in Penzance, you're looking at around hour and a half each way - and that is with the A30 behaving itself!

Arthur's beach near Falmouth if you don't mind a bit of a hike.

No McDonalds is surely a plus? What's not to like about the infamous Bude Tunnel

I love Cornwall, St Ives is a gorgeous little town. Wild camping on a windy cliff edge down there was an experience!

Steer clear of Redruth, full of mutants.

Personal choice, north coast Tintagel and head west to Sennen Cove.

Avoid Lands End, its a rip off, go to Sennen, enjoy the beach, the pub, and if you want its omly a mile or so walk along the SWCP to Lands End (saves paying the ripoff car park fee).

Someone in West London complaining about prices?

I go to Cornwall a lot, not sure where you go but places I go prices are no dearer than elsewhere.

Just watch out for the potholes. They're doing some serious damage & not being repaired, or at least not with any urgency

St Ives is much better to get to using the local railway from St Erth rather than doing battle with the car parks, unless you're there really early

Launceston

Some amazing hidden sandy beaches on the north coast if you know where to go, near zero tourists. I can think of one that is 5 mins from one of the most popular of all, yet it will be nearly empty on a hot day. They’re ones I go to!
