For cheating, they were caught spying on their opponents, Middlesbrough before the semi final.

Middlesbrough will now play against Hull this Saturday.

Is this fair?

Slightly not on subject of my own post, but Southampton get thrown out for Cheating after 1 weeks investigation.

Man City have well over 100 aligations of cheating and the verdict should have been delivered months ago. It makes you wonder why a week for Southampton, yet a year for Man City.

Football stinks these days.

The Man City saga has taken way too long. Let's hope they get some serious punishment, and not just stripping of titles they previously won.

Got to admit I was surprised when I heard the verdict but I was at that time unaware they had done it on another 2 occasions ,, the logistics of the decision are immense ,, the kick off time might be changed ( it might not) ,was originally set for 4,30pm Hull fans might have booked on specific trains ,, Middlesbrough fans now technically have 3 working days to buy tickets and arrange travel, how many coach companies are geared up at such short notice , , Southampton fans have apparently already bought tickets and being told they will get a refund but what if they also booked train and hotel accommodation and the coach companies in their area are now suddenly being told they are no longer required , I wouldn't be surprised to hear in next few days of Saints fans abroad who had booked flights in order to attend the match

The FA have been investigating man city for over 5 years now and nothing...

The EFL investigate Southampton and it's done and dusted in 11 days.

Now I'm not saying there is any particular reason that the FA are scared of upsetting man city but it does seem a little suspicious as they weren't scared to charge Everton a couple of years back when Everton were charged with similar things as many city.

I think it’s fair punishment because they were caught, and admitted cheating on three occasions.

Yes Leeds were fined £200,000 but that was when it wasn’t illegal and the rule came in straight after.

Southampton haven’t been fined £200m, just denied the chance to win that particular prize.

Docking enough points to drop them out of the playoffs should have happened weeks ago but then Boro would need to play Wrexham who are likely on the beach by now.

Throwing them out of the league would be disproportionate punishment. Preventing them from the chance of winning unimaginable riches - the very reason why they would have cheated - seems the only answer. Otherwise you may as well not have the rule. .

as a Southampton fan i feel like certain individuals should be held accountable for their actions. yes we cheated and ive lost faith and trust in the club. however of the teams we spyed on we drew 2 and lost 1 against them. therefore we didn't gain an advantage. this is the darkest saga in the clubs history.

do i feel the its right to put Middlesbrough into the league final. no I don't think its fair. the only fair option after chucking Southampton out would be to give hull the promotion.

however i feel that this drama isnt over yet. i fear the FA will get involved and bring charges against the individuals in question. we the fans need answers and i feel that the only way they are going to come is through the FA

The trouble The EFL have in controlling clubs is that fans of clubs don't want their club controlling , they want the best forward the best midfielder despite the cost , then when it goes wrong they blame The EFL , this is the same problem the new football regulator is going to face , maybe the vote taken by clubs restricting the amount clubs can spend based on their income may help , but at the moment I suspect some clubs are hanging on by a thread

No one condones cheating.

But given that the Championship play off is the most valuable single match in football (the prize being playing in the Premier League and the many millions that brings), the punishment appears to be the most severe ever issued.

Leeds Utd were fined £200,000 for a similar offence and a new rule was introduced.

However, this was being investigated before either of the semi final play offs were played. Surely it would have been better to have delayed those and sorted the matter (and replaced Southampton then) before it became such a huge issue.

They now have to sell and issue tickets to a new set of fans and refund all the tickets sold to Southampton fans.

Another example of football’s governing bodies addressing things poorly.

Think the punishment is a little harsh, but at least the football league has some balls unlike the money grabbing Premier league. The way they have avoided City and given Chelsea a little slap on the wrist is disgraceful. Chelsea were paying back handers to everyone ffs. Also…if it’s that important, why have open training facilities.. looks like anyone could rock up & watch/film. It’s not expensive (especially in soccer terms) to put up screens etc to shield the more tactical parts of training. It happens/happened in the NFL where planning for opponents is much more precise… many teams have huge indoor complexes.

As a Leeds fan, for my sins 😀. Bielsa didn’t realise that it’s not the done thing here in the uk. Apparently in South America it’s common practice. The Leeds issue saw the rule come into force. We were fined 200,000 quid over tht and a slap on the wrist. Southampton knew what the rules were and went ahead anyway, so they no excuse really. Is ot harsh to receive their punishment? Yes. But thems the rules. They know what they were doing and ignored the rules anyway. So silly.

"And if anyone thinks that they only spied on three clubs then you are in cloud cuckoo land "

Absolutely. Admit to Ipswich who have been promoted, and Oxford who beat them anyway.

"No its not fair I think Borough and Millwall should play and the winner of that plays Hull. Or Hull straight up as no opponent to play. Either way its not fair on Millwall. why is it not fair on millwall? They were 3rd- above saints- and got fairly beaten by hull city. We ( city fans) have had a week with our plans in the air, travel, time off work, booked hotels, "

Exactly 👍 Millwall don’t even come into the equation here

0-0 at half time, between Hull and Middlesbrough.

Hull have threatened legal action if they loose!

Middlesbrough are there because the team they played in the semifinal cheated, and were chucked out.

So I dont see on what grounds Hull have to take legal action, against who?

Let's see if the 2nd half takes that threat away.

Hull might threaten legal action, but the ones who really should are fans of either team in this final. The quality is so bad.

Hull win 1-0, no legal action.

Not a great game.

Now on to tomorrow and the last day of the Premier League season, which is the best day of the Premier league season, in my opinion.

It is when there is something on the line.

Sadly I think Spurs are going to avoid relegation
