Amazing article in the Guardian yesterday about a 32-year-old gay man who found a newborn in a bundle of clothes on a New York subway station. The mother could not be found and after giving a statement in court the judge asked him if he'd adopt it.

A decade later, when gay marriage became legal in the state, he and his partner contacted that judge and she married them. A really touching story. Today it's in the 'You may have missed' section.

But...I take it that is a short version of what happened and it was looked into if he was a suitable candidate to adopt...it's not like it was a bike found in the hedge lol

The judge's suggestion probably took everyone by surprise, including the man who found the newborn. He'd never given adopting a thought, but the judge must have sensed that he was a responsible and caring person. His boyfriend was against the idea until the moment he saw the orphan, then he was all for it.

Now they're the parents of a happy 26-year-old, a successful software engineer working out of state, but who visits his two dads often. There's a great pic of the three of them.

Lol....yeah seems obvious!!!!!...as per my 'not a bike found in hedge lol' ....kind of ridiculing my even asking if it's the short version.

Then you read the ops second post...how does that read? it again hints at it being a bit blasé????
