If someone says they’re abroad, but there location says they’re in the uk, what are we thinking?

Site can’t handle abroad?

Telling porkies about their location?

VPN back home so their phone thinks it in the uk?

How about they didn’t bother to change the profile because they show up on “See who’s near”?

All I’m saying is that it doesn’t mean any of the things you suggested, just that they use a different method. Nothing sinister or complicated. 🤦‍♂️

Apparently, I am at home though I am actually 70 miles away. A few weeks ago I was 248 miles away but still at home. My internet is through Starlink and though I have the Roam service I am always located at my registered address.

If they are accessing the site via a desktop, the miles from you is static based on whatever postcode they put in when they created their profile. If they're using the mobile desktop or the app, and it says they are, for arguments sake, within 5 miles, thats exactly where they are. If it says 1412 miles or some other big number of miles, pretty sure theyre abroad. In those cases the GPS is taken from their phone, not their profile postcode.

You can change your postcode at any time.

For example, if you're visiting a different area you simply change your postcode to suit. Then the Updates function will show the usual long list of up to 150 guys near the new postcode area who recently changed their status.

Who's near will obviously work too, but that's no more than 10 guys long if you're not a site supporter.

You can also change your nationality to any of: UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.

I was in north Wales last week, but back in south Wales now, was getting messages from the north even though I was back south, so I was either coming up on local searches or someone wants to drive 4hrs for a meet... lol
