Remember to tell them how greedy you think they are when they are saving the life of someone you love.

"Striking again….greed or not?"

Not at all.

MPs get their pay rise every year .

Doctors and nurses should be paid a much better wage.

More than likely it would be a surgeon, registrar or senior consultant saving a life.

I don’t doubt they work hard and do a great job but does that give them the right to strike every 5 minutes for more money.

Where will it end?

You don’t get nurses, paramedics, firemen striking so why resident doctors?

MPs gave themselves 5% this year - so I’d say not!

The whole NHS has needed a shakeout for years if not decades. I don't think the staff going on strike will make that happen any sooner. It just adds to the chaos.

Also, this is allegedly all about the doctors. But we have a crisis in nurse recruitment and training, and NHS dentistry is virtually nonexistent now that private practices pay more to their staff than the NHS does - or even can.

As it was, right at the beginning of the NHS, it's a seller's market for lengthily and expensively-trained,competent professionals. Doctors (and nurses and dentists) COST.

OK, right now there's little or no barrier to a doctor trained here - supported by public money - deciding Australia is a better deal and pissing off asap.

The choice is clear, pay the bugger what he could get in Australia, or something like it, and say goodbye to the NHS being free at the point of delivery. Or just go private. Awful choice. The strikes are just incidental to this.

Exactly. Far more important than sponging MPs.

Can't really blame them, when the jobs they otherwise would have taken are filled by foreign trained doctors we've imported.

Nurses and Paramedics went on strike 4 years ago, this is pure greed with a bit of added spice from the BMA

Ah ok I’ll pass your comments on to my gp who diagnosed me with pneumonia a couple of years ago who in turn actually saved my life

24 hours later would of definitely been to late to save my life !

There are plenty in the NHS on minimum wage or just above without which the fat cat doctors would not be able to do their job and it's often the yellow taxi drivers who pick up the pieces when they can't be bothered to properly examine patients

i'd say they contribute more to society than any mp drinking in a subsidised bar and a £50 breakfast allowance

The boss of the Nationwide Building Society, Debbie Crosbie, pays herself £7million a year. No one is worth that much. Doctors save lives every day and deserve to be well paid.
