Bingham- Notts

Just want to wish everyone a happy pride month. And remember without one, we wouldn't have a platform like this one.

Enjoy life and be proud of yourselves.

Happy Pride to Mr Be4r, the OP, and indeed everyone else. If it is 'your thing' then enjoy it. Doubt it will make the slightest difference to me. No events nearby and doubt I will even see a rainbow flag anywhere locally.

Blackpool pride this weekend. Weather doesn’t look great but hey ho.

My son and his husband are up for the weekend and my grandson too. Was out with my grandson last weekend. The first time he’s met me in girl mode.

Hoping it’s a great weekend

Think we need good people to be more vocal to stop extremists poisoning society.

It's a wonderful excuse for straight women and their reluctant partners to get dressed up and mingle with 'the gays' for a few hours, getting pissed and sporting a rainbow or two.

Much like a donkey ride at the seaside years ago, or a zoo visit.

Thought February [?] was gay history month. Plus gay events go on throughout the year. Most Pride marches seem to occur in July and August

Gay history month and pride month are not the same thing. Neither is a march or event that occurs on one day.

So what is Pride Month all about then? Genuine question as I thought it was about marches and events etc.

It s about being out loud and proud.

Especially now with the rise of a lot of right wing propaganda. Our community needs to make ourselves more visible. Our community needs more than in recent years, to protect the rights we have accrued. As there are more and more out there who want to put us in a closet and then bury that closet in the deepest darkest hole they can find

Its not right wing propaganda, The ordinary person is genuinely getting tired of all the pride nonsense 🙄. Pride is pointless in the west there is no need for it. Also I hate to tell you but it's the left wing parties you need to worry about because they are hellbent in importing the muslims and the 3rd world into our countries.

Don’t hate yourself for expressing your opinion. I would agree with you, but then we’ed both be wrong.

We’re already seeing elected rightwing numpties. Desperate to curtail our rights and celebrations. One wonders how long they’ll stay elected for. Now they are being found out.

Those stop the boats slogans work really well to fill pot holes, empty the bins or even provide the young with an education. Here in Lancashire they decided to de fund care homes. That worked well. Fortunately they are unlikely to get real power. Britain took a brain fart once at the hands of your right wing buddies. I doubt they’ll vote to make it worse

But are they likely to take our rights away? Fine I don't trust the Faragites and their ilk as they like to rattle their sabres and stir up any latent phobia going. From my experience being flamboyant out and proud can make things worse not better.

I get what you say. However, those rights were hard won.

Being born in 1960 in the West of Scotland I remember the difficulties we had just being ourselves. I remember when you couldn’t make a complaint to the police. After all you were more likely to be thrown in a cell than protected.

We’ve not had equal rights that long and politicians are talking about curtailing them. My own son had to go to Canada to get married to his husband because in the UK you couldn’t. You could only get a Civil Partnership.

As to being flamboyant frankly so what. Some of our community are, people need to get over it. After all daily we have to put up with flag shaggers with hotel shouters with people spouting hate and their god superstitions in our faces.

If a town has a pride parade and some people get offended. That’s their problem not mine.

As I said I’ll be at Blackpool pride this weekend I’ll be there with my wife, with my son and his husband and also with my grandson. Pride is s celebration but it is needed more today than it ever has been.

👏 👏 👏 tho i dont agree that anyone will be trying to take our rights away any time soon.

The most flamboyant men ive known have all been happily straight. Mate of mine is as flamboyant as a row of flamingos in a glitter factory, looks bent as a boomerang, sounds as camp as Larry Grayson, yet has no inclination at all to play with guys sexually.
