I overdid it in the garden at the weekend and my lower back is crippling me. I'm sure its nothing serious but can anyone suggest any ways to eleviate the pain ?

If any remedies involve a hard cock then I'm all ears..

Ibuprofen and paracetamol is your best friend, with some heat/ice. Get better soon. I had bad back ache last Wednesday, turned out I was passing a kidney stone and needed emergency surgery. Hopefully thats not you!

Over the counter meds are pretty crap, speak to the pharmacist or your doctor.

Rest and use Voltarol gel. If it doesn't improve in a day or two see your GP.

I take a regular magnesium supplement drink which helps with my stiff muscles and aids recovery.

Like everything do your research and check it doesnt clash with owt else you take if you try it

Don't wrench your door off it's hinges but try home traction.

I suffer with L4 and L5 and a slipped disc. I interlock my fingers and place over top of door and try and let my fingers take my weight.

Had some amazing neck to coccyx cracks which has helped me in the past.

I find slow-release ('modified') ibuprofen as good as Naproxen. Most big supermarkets stock it alongside the regular ibuprofen.

Find a local osteopath!

Better than physio (by miles), less brutal than chiropractors and they treat the problem rather than masking the symptoms with drugs (pain relief is appropriate in the acute phase)

was at the doctor yesterday with the same thing he put me through exercises to make sure it wasn’t spinal , decided it was muscular so voltarol gel 4 times a day 7-10 days paracetamol, if you ever had any stomach problems do not take ibuprofen

Lay or sleep on hard bed or carpeted floor. rather than soft bed that helps.

Find a local osteopath

Roll up a towel into a 4” (approximately!) sausage lay on a flat surface (the floor) placing the towel at the top of your bum/bottom of your back for 5-10 mins as often as you can possibly stand it

Speak to your dr and get some diazepan if they will issue it to you

Tens machine will help but will be very slow recovery

Don’t have hot showers or hot baths!

Cold is best like warm will suffice

Cold compress but not constantly!

The idea is to release the muscles not freeze them

And don’t sit still keep moving as often as you can

1st thing though get yourself to an osteopath asap !
