I’m curious as to how people start a chat, when messaging someone for the first time?

I send a fair few msgs. I’d say 50% don’t even get a response, 30% are a polite ‘no’, 15% schedules don’t match and of the remaining 5% I’ll occasionally get a meet.

Wondering how those of us who can form full sentences normally kick things off?

Straight to the point and no waffle, bit of small talk, a complement???

Help please…. I’d like a better conversion rate

Downham Market

I rarely initiate chats, but when I do, I tend to pick things from their profile to mention, ask a question or two so they have something to reply to and provide a little detail about me - seems to work.

Or if it's off the back of a forum post I'll reference that and see if the conversation flows

Like it. Direct, playful.

Taking notes 👍

I do try and ask at least one profile based question but getting fed up with one word answers. Maybe it’s just a bad patch? Idk.

Don’t tend to msg guys from forum posts re meets, because they’re usually miles away.

Watford & Worth Matravers

Always a question asking about something in their profile plus a friendly "how are you". After 3 or 4 direct questions i kinda know if its worth continuing.
