"Many years ago when I was a young guy and a management trainee, I became involved with the daughter of a director at the large multinational I worked for. He was my ultimate boss, even though there were several layers of management between us. Outside work he was friendly when we met and we never discussed work. His daughter was a bit unpredictable and worked for the same company. She could be very moody and inconsistent and seemed unsure of what she wanted. We eventually drifted apart, with no argument and no bad feeling. We simply moved on to other relationships and remained on civil terms. Her father didn’t see it that way. He believed I had ended things badly and used his senior position to make my role untenable. Promotions were blocked. Opportunities disappeared. The environment became so difficult that resigning was the only option left. Lesson:- It's always wise not to mix personal relationships with work, especially when there’s a serious imbalance of power. Looking back, it was a huge and regretful mistake on my part, of course, I was very young at the time and we all learn from experience. Within a few years, both the director and a manager whom he used against me had both died unexpectedly young. It brought no satisfaction at all, just closure to a rather painful episode of life. " Sorry that happened to you, but yeah I agree, and won't be seeing this guy again. Although he doesnt work for me, his wife does, im her boss, and it would be untenable for me if she found out and kicked off. She's a fucking nightmare employee too, so another reason to avoid. | |||

" Thanks for your kind words, it was all of 45 years ago, yes wise not to meet that guy again, especially with him having a wife of such a nightmare nature too. Good luck and enjoy your day.
