What’s everyone’s preferred Sunday Roast

Beef

Chicken

Pork

Lamb

Are you team Roasties or team Mash or maybe both?

Yorkshire Pudding with all of the above or just with Beef?

Team Gravy on the side or Team drenched all over?

Prefer beef or lamb but will accept any (although have been going off roast chicken lately... tasting bland).

Do like my mash but also wouldn't say no to a good roast potato.

Gravy all over.

Yorkshire pudding with lashings of gravy , a filling starter to stretch the Sunday roast for the 60’s large families.

Later to become just another item on the main meal

Pork, roasted tatties and parsnips cauliflower cheese , red cabbage and carrot and swede carrot mash. Served with a side of hot crackling. No one did a roast as great as my late Mother, my attempts are a poor imitation.

I like lamb if it's cooked properly and still pink in the middle. I only like roast potatoes going with it, along with veg and Yorkshire puddings of course. Also mint sauce and plenty of gravy.

"I've never had mashed potatoes with a roast. Is that a thing? "

Sometimes the mash is piped into portions and the tops browned in the oven.

Seems a faff but each to their own

Roast beef or chicken for me, but home cooked and definitely not a pub carvery. Smell of half eaten plates makes me heave as indeed seeing all those crowds of people leaning right over the food and using same utensils to dish up veg. Urghhhh

Chicken with a good stuffing, roasties and yorkshires are essential and that roast is swimming in thick gravy, none of that watery crap.

If I'm cooking it myself then roast chicken. If its done properly there's nothing better! If I'm out for lunch then lamb. I won't do it myself because I hate the smell of it cooking!

As for sides, Yorkshire puddings go with everything, you have to have cauliflower cheese, I prefer mashed potatoes on a roast, maybe some buttered cabbage, and definitely mushy peas!

My mam & gran always used to have 'spring salad' (sometimes called Yorkshire salad) on the mushy peas. It's basically just shredded lettuce, cucumber & onion marinated with malt vinegar & sugar. Absolutely delicious on a roast.

I make the best chicken gravy at home too. And if I'm having roast chicken then I'll definitely have some bread sauce or onion sauce with it too.

I just prefer a roast occasionally rather than as a regular and predictable Sunday meal that I had when living at home in my younger days.

My choice would be roast rib of beef, with roast potatoes, roast carrots, lightly boiled Savoy cabbage, Yorkshire pudding, beef gravy and fresh Horseradish Sauce.
