My answer:

It's not that I want to be gay man.

I think I am born gay.

When I was growing up I was always attracted to men and not women.

I have tried to date girls in the past but have no feeling towards them.

After awhile I stop trying and accept myself as a gay man.

Honestly no one wants to be gay because life can be harder.

Im not sure there is a sexuality gene, so being born gay is debatable. I'm not closed to the notion, but it woukd need to be proven through genetics. Nature and nurture in early childhood are the usual benchmarks for what we are later in life. Quite often it is a turning-point identifiable event.

Being brought up in North East Wales in the 1960s and 70s, sexuality was rarely discussed. Anything outside the heterosexual stereotype was spoken of in hushed tones:- "he's one of them", "a bit funny", "a pansy", "queer", or similar euphemisms. One I also heard was, "oh, he walks nice." It was largely taboo. So although I had secret desires for men, I completely denied it to myself for fear of being branded a total outcast, until I moved away from home in my late twenties.

Initially did not realise it was sexual but from an early age I found myself admiring motorcyclists in their leathers and soldiers in their uniforms. Then started checking out my schoolmates when naked in the showers after sports. Tried to conform by having girlfriends in my teens but they were just friends. Never wanted to do anything physical with them. In my 20s decided to 'straighten myself out'. Even got married but the spark wasn't there. So no idea what made me gay. It's just the way I am.
