We are hearing more and more about Stabbings and attacks with Knives surely it’s time the Government give the Police more robust powers to deal with it

Tougher sentences for anyone caught carrying a bladed article is a must imo no suspended sentences blah blah blah

I agree with the point that knife crime needs to be addressed.

There are already laws in dealing with it, they are just not enforced.

The only law that might be required to be updated, is the sale of knives, particularly on line.

It’s getting to be a daily thing now and unfortunately I can only see it getting worse unless the Government and CPS get together and really hit down hard on anyone caught carrying

Why anyone would feel the need to use a knife on someone is beyond me and it just shows to go how dangerous our streets are becoming 😞

No. Official Reports & Watchdogs: Inquiries have repeatedly highlighted the discriminatory application of these powers. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has reported on police conducting searches on weak grounds and using excessive force, particularly on Black people. Furthermore, the Baroness Casey Review identified the Metropolitan Police as being institutionally racist and criticized how stop and searches are used disproportionately.Statistical Disparities: Home Office

Short of becoming a police state with checkpoints and metal detectors everywhere, im not sure much can be done.

It starts at home. Start prosecuting parents for the crimes of their crotch-goblin sexually transmitted dependents. Seize their assets.

This and previous governments have struggled with an answer to this problem. Three occasions they have tried to give longer sentences etc. only to be voted against by back benchers, opposition partys and the house of lords. As stated prosecute the parents.

Completely wrong, it was Theresa May who curtailed police stop & search powers in 2014 when Home Secretary. She has blood on her hands.

'The home secretary, Theresa May, is to introduce a "comprehensive package" reforming the use of police stop-and-search powers after telling MPs that as many as a quarter of a million street searches last year were probably carried out illegally.

The home secretary said she wanted the battery of revised codes, best practice schemes and new methods of accountability to lead to a significant reduction in the use of stop and search, more intelligence-led targeted operations, and better arrest ratios.'

We should not be allowing certain groups to carry so-called ceremonial knives in public just because 100+ years ago someone in some distant land told them that it was their right to do so.

Allowing one group to legally carry knives in public while other groups cannot is clearly discriminatory, not to mention dangerous.

There are already ample long bladed knives available in every kitchen in the country and always have been... are we going to ban the sale of them! It's not the knives, its the people wealding them that's the problem! Rigorous stop & search and instant deportation of foreign nationals if caught with a knife in the street! We cannot continue with this third world ethos of attacking people in the street with weapons!

Quite a few public figures are feeding rage.

Since 2008 and loads of quantative easing, many very wealthy people have managed to double their wealth yet, for many, living standards and wages haven't really increased since 2008.It was Jeremy Hunt who explained this in his 2023 budget.

Combined with a housing crisis and following a long period of economic boom peoples expectations are not what they were 30 years ago.

Politicians have a difficult task if they do not put up income tax.

The constant mantra of low tax is OK for the very wealthy, but the Marxist dialectic of the wealthy bringing down, or hollowing out, the middle class is becoming a reality. The limits of markets and failure of regulation are plainly seen. Solutions require tough decisions and political grit, rather than grift. Politicians have to be prepared to do the hard yards and help bring society together. We all must play a part, too.

Stoking anger and rage on social media,as well as looking for scapegoats, isn't going to solve the structural problems.

So what you’re saying is that because some English people also carry knives we should continue to import the rest of the world’s violent criminals?

I think something similar was said about a different branch of criminality!

You have to laugh(or cringe) at the tory leader Badenoch, she states her party will stamp knife crime out if they get in to office, no knife crime when we suffered for 14 years with them then?. I seem to remember there was quite a lot of it.

Innocent people are dying and over and over again. Get caught carrying a blade then you go to prison for ten years (no reductions). I you do it again then twenty years in prison. Time that soft sentence judges got real but the law and Governments must back them. Prisons full then release the less serious offenders who have done lesser crimes to make room and tag them. That will make you think more than twice about carrying a blade !!

I can remember the day that most of scouts carried a sheef knife, I took an air rifle to school on the bus, but we never stabbed anyone or shot them. It's social media and mobile technology that's the real issue. Jungle drums can now send messages around the world in minutes, unfortunately due to journalism most of the messages are not the truth. The reason we have dick heads as world leaders.

It’s always been a problem here, I found myself in a situation that led me to getting done 4 times in one go and that was over 30 years ago. Parts of this country are lawless and the perpetrators know it. What is the realistic solution ??? I’ve got no clue……
