Been awake since 4:30 and can’t get back to sleep, so wasting my time in bed making inane comments on this site.

I think it must be an age thing, since I've retired and got older I seem to get fragmented sleep at night, usually a max of 2 hours then maybe a couple of 1 hour spells but will then doze / deep sleep throughout the day in an armchair which is often a better quality sleep than I get in bed.

Pretty much the same, strange thing is i wake up but still feeling tired but cant get back to sleep. Too much on my mind perhaps. I google solutions but they all seem like gimmicks , like the gummie mushroom powders they say help you sleep. Guess just put it down to age and just nap where we can!

Dont go there. Ive suffered insomnia for nearly 20 yrs. Thought things might improve when i stopped shift work - Yeah right!

Its horrible and yeah, it can make you feel bloody miserable

I've found if I do wake up, I have a read of a book, and after a while I can get back to sleep. I think it's about clearing your mind of any worries you have a filling it with something else.

I find because I don't sleep well I try and gmhit the hay at 10pm most evenings.

I m then awake at 3am.

If I stay up later tho, say til midnight...I can sleep straight thru til 6.

Mind works mysteriously

I find earplugs work for me. Blocks the world out. Ive got black out curtains which helps with the bright mornings.

Try the Knifepoint horror creepy stories podcasts.

I love the stories but his voice and reading manner always makes me drop.

Love it.

I took wish I could get 8 hours without the 2-3am piss.

Once awake, one's mind races. ☹️

Or just listen to Rachel Thieves or Starmer making it Absolutely Clear. Repetition is a definite remedy for dropping off to sleep

Thankfully I usually get a good 7-7.5 hours, although sometimes do get woken early.

I need a new blackout blind, I think that would help.
