For me I’m gonna have to say “The End” by the doors. It’s just a mind field of emotions up, down , happy and sad. Just the way the rest of the band play along and adjust to Morrisons twisted lyrics. It still blows my mind and still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

In a galaxy far far away

Any song made by Elvis.

He revolutionised the music industry and created rock n roll. He laid the foundation for new chord sequences of which all future songs were based on.

That's why he's called The King.

Some great tracks there. Keep it going. I can add to my Youtube player list.

I would add Arethla Franklin, Respect. The blues Brothers version. Even better than the original

Whiston

Almost impossible to say, but Eleanor Rigby is an utterly timeless gem. And whilst I'm a huge fan of artists I grew up with, I don't think many can match the songwriting skills that preceeded them or the singer who delivered them with the greatest panache and exquisite phrasing - Sinatra. Just Google 'Sinatra the musical soundtrack' and there's an enviable (and rather impossible) list of contenders right there.

Torquay

From my recollection at the time, Rock and Roll emerged from 'skiffle groups' The very first mass recognition of Rock and Roll came from Bill Haley and the Comets' film 'Rock around the Clock, it was an overnight sensation when huge numbers of young people left their seats in the cinemas ( which was often had 2, 3000 seats back then ) and started rocking in the aisles. Elvis's rise to fame was after that.

So many great suggestions and gonna have me tuning out all night

I often ask Alexa to play The Whole of the Moon, love the beat and the voice.

Same for You Win Again, Bee Gees (though perhaps not for the voice!).

Whole of the moon is a beautiful song. Always reminds me of Corfu for some bizarre reason.

"Today I have been chillin' / groovin' to...

Haircut 100 - Fantastic Day (12 inch version)"

The 12-inch version of 'Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)' is what might be termed a banger.

Paul Weller praised this song, saying for 25 years he’d been trying to include the term “2 bob c…” into a lyric ! Bravo.

King Size ( You're My Little Steam Whistle) is the best track on Pelican West
