To hell with his shoddy little party/cult's other measures like scale back the NHS, human rights, workers rights, pensioners right, gay rights etc etc. Plus how successful would a Reform government be doing this. First they would need an enormous Commons majority. Then legislate against the House of Lords and the courts. Withdraw from the ECHR and various other conventions we have signed up to. With the way government works at the moment this would all take a minimum of 2 to 3 years unless they effectively suspended parliament and imposed a Nazi style dictatorship and imposed draconian measures. | |||

" The 2024 general election was one of the most negative. The last 2 or 3 years of Conservative rule were chaotic and people were fed-up. They wanted change for changes sake. 34% of the popular vote translated into a massive and unprecedented majority for Labour because the opposition vote was split. Farage helped Labour win traditionally Conservative seats by splitting the vote. So it wasn't a case that people saw dull-as-ditch-water Starmer as the saviour of the country. He just happened to be the leader of the party that won most seats. Some of his MPs polled less than 30% so hardly a ringing endorsement. Without Farage I have little doubt Labour would have won but with a far smaller majority. | |||
