So far so good here: hot and humid midday on, but a bit of a breeze. In the late 60's we lived for a while in south Michigan: temp 98F, humidity 96% by August. God alone knows what it's like now!

I live in a small flat in a converted house. Best thing about it is the Victorian air conditioning... sash windows. Open a few inches at the top and about a foot at the bottom, any breeze thats around comes in the bottom and takes the hotter air out at the top. Brilliant invention and cost nothing to run

I've always struggled with the heat, and with very fair skin the sun is not my friend, but this last year I dropped a lot of weight, like 30+kg and this last winter was hell for me I was sooooo cold, so this is the first sunner that I'm actually enjoying the heat and I'm coping with it well.

I definitely feel for the folks that are struggling in this heat, I've been there and I know how awful it is.

He's right - it's called "Post glacial rebound". Britain is tilting upwards in the north, where there was an icecap, sinking in the south. Tide gauge records have been showing this effect since records began.

We have a huge housing crisis because people from London are buying up all the residential properties for second homes. Buy a house in the southwest.
