Homophobia = suppressed homosexuality

Latent homosexuality refers to same-sex attraction that is not consciously experienced or expressed in overt action, often suppressed or unrecognized. The concept was originally proposed by Sigmund Freud and has been linked to theories about homophobia arising from denial of one's own homosexual impulses.

Don't know about that - I'm a Jung guy ( pause for obvious comment), but I'm concerned about the Prick Of the US taking such a close interest in shapely young men on several public occasions -see-

https://www.thedailybeast.com/obsessed/trumps-pattern-of-fawning-over-muscly-men-exposed-on-the-daily-show/

...With frantic and over-detailed denials on other occasions.

So, is the Orange Perv gay? Is the current sideshow with his personal assistant just deflection? Is Melania a man?

Thanks to the OP for raising the matter.

Most of them are so deep in the closet, they live next door to Mr Tumnus.

Many are just scared due to the blatant mainstream media, and the supposed social stigma. Unfortunately I don't think the UK has moved on much from the 60s when it was still banned. Many people still spout the Same old nonsense, due to not wanting to be ostracized by friends or family. Give it a couple more generations and hopefully it will change. But as long as some friends and families subscribe to the "gays are not normal" and to be feared because they don't understand them very little will change. So they parrot what they have had drummed into them whilst being scared they will be found out

I think that is one of the reasons men explore and change or come out in their 50’s after a co formed life and marriage. My regular and his partner were both married with kids. Marriage breakdown was the catalyst to allow them to express who they really were.

I am still happily married, but haven’t touched a woman in years after being introduced gently into man sex in my late 40’s. Always knew I had homo feelings, but that guy taught me the proper path to sexual Nirvana 😇

Maybe that's part of it but I think a lot of people, specifically men, are just insecure assholes. Not gay themselves but feel emasculated when they see gay men and react like cunts.

I can actively see a good change in young people being more accepted and open just need the anti LGBTQ+ brigade to fuck off from politics and let people be people. As I say I think it may take a couple of generations when they really will just see people instead of a sexuality and judge or ostracize them because of it.

Back to the headline of this thread. I do believe that some of the most ardent homophobes might well be hiding their own secret gay urges for a number of reason. Genuine disgust with themselves after repeatedly being told it is the most heinous sin/crime by family, friends, mentors etc. Fear of being seen as unmanly by their contemporaries and friends. Desperately trying to fit in with the so-called norm. Fear that they would instantly lose family and friends, even lose their job or have their job prospects weakened or limited if they were 'outed'. Shouldn't happen in 2026 but it did happen in the '70s, '80s and '90s before we gained equal rights. Even then you cannot legislate the feelings/opinions of family, friends, workmates, employers etc.
