Love a dram of Scottish Single Malt so for any fellow whisky drinkers out there what ones do you enjoy?

For me:

Laphroaig

The MacAllan

Highland Park

Jura

Talisker Storm

Dalmore

Old Pulteney

I do like Highland park 12 year is my second favourite.

And if I'm entertaining I get a bottle of black label Johnny walker out.

Lots of good single malts out there.

I met my husband in 1994, and for his birthday in 1995 I bought him a 30 year old Springbank single malt.

He left his Mrs for me, and several months later his son in law and the guy who had been his best man at his wedding were sent as emissaries to ask "when are you giving this all up and coming home". While he had his pow-wow, I made dinner. After dinner we broke out the 30yo single malt and consumed it between us over several hours. During this time, the former best man told me, "we all knew, we should never have let him get married". The son in law was taken with my guitar playing and singing, I'd been playing Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, early Chris de Burgh (Crusader, The Girl with April in her Eyes, etc.)

They knew they were on a hiding to nothing.

Ive been collecting signal malts for a while and I have a few I'd love to open but they're from numbered barrels so I keep them as an investment.

Actually wrote a book on single malts but I'm nig sure how to go about getting it published. But. I have to say my favourites are ,

Oban 14 yo,

Dalmore Cigar malt,

Scarpa 14yo (discontinued)

Glen Dronach 15yo ( the older one pre 2020)

Glen fiddich toasted oak (discontinued)

Always find Glenfiddich a bit perfumy for my taste. I much prefer a Macallan or a Glenlivet. That said I don’t drink a lot of whiskey any more. High days and holidays only. So I do like a nice one on those rare days.

For those who like their whisky peaty:

Lagavulin as mentioned by many;

Ardbeg Uigedail or Corryvreckan;

Laphroaig Quarter Cask;

Perhaps the best (imho) Port Charlotte 10year old heavily peated.

All can be d*unk ‘raw’ but to get the best flavour without ruining your taste buds with the first sip - add two or three little drops of water.

I was told by an expert that a splash of water brings out the flavour but ice kills the flavour of the grain. All a matter of personal taste. Every distillery is different, so every whisky is different

A Scottish barman once told me before I went on shift as his assistant: "Never mind if the punter wants a malt. Give him one,first off, but after that he'll no' be able to tell malt from Red Hackle."

I later witnessed him decanting Red Hackle (possiblv, but from a guy he knew) into Famous Grouse optics. The hotel has since changed hands...

I recall sampling several at the Spean Bridge Hotel in the 1990s. They had well over 100 single malts on display.

There used to be a tradition that if you could name a SM they didn't have, you could claim a shot of one they did have.

I tried Islay Mist, but the bottle was swiftly produced. Drat and double drat!

Still - I did sample that one.
