"Bowmore is the only one I really drink, although I recently bought a set of 3 miniature Glenfiddich which were nicer than I remembered them to be. " Glenfiddich is a nice whisky 🥃👍

"Lots of good single malts out there. I met my husband in 1994, and for his birthday in 1995 I bought him a 30 year old Springbank single malt. He left his Mrs for me, and several months later his son in law and the guy who had been his best man at his wedding were sent as emissaries to ask "when are you giving this all up and coming home". While he had his pow-wow, I made dinner. After dinner we broke out the 30yo single malt and consumed it between us over several hours. During this time, the former best man told me, "we all knew, we should never have let him get married". The son in law was taken with my guitar playing and singing, I'd been playing Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, early Chris de Burgh (Crusader, The Girl with April in her Eyes, etc.) They knew they were on a hiding to nothing. " I do feel sorry for the wife, but it's a lovely story. I hope he makes you as happy (with and without the whiskey!)

"Ive been collecting signal malts for a while and I have a few I'd love to open but they're from numbered barrels so I keep them as an investment. Actually wrote a book on single malts but I'm nig sure how to go about getting it published. But. I have to say my favourites are , Oban 14 yo, Dalmore Cigar malt, Scarpa 14yo (discontinued) Glen Dronach 15yo ( the older one pre 2020) Glen fiddich toasted oak (discontinued) Glen fiddich 21yo Beinn Dubh " Some great choices mate 👍 I enjoy collecting them myself and always buy a different version whenever I’m up in Scotland 🏴 You should look into getting the book published I’m sure you will be able to get advice from somewhere on how to go about it

Ah I recall a school trip to the Glenfiddich distillery. Noddy Mackie spewed his ringer -the aroma was too much for the wee fella. The Japanese tourists were not impressed with our ribaldry as I recall. Railway lines were mentioned... I digress. 🤮

"Bowmore is the only one I really drink, although I recently bought a set of 3 miniature Glenfiddich which were nicer than I remembered them to be. Glenfiddich is a nice whisky 🥃👍" Always find Glenfiddich a bit perfumy for my taste. I much prefer a Macallan or a Glenlivet. That said I don’t drink a lot of whiskey any more. High days and holidays only. So I do like a nice one on those rare days.

"Do most guys have their malt neat, nothing added, or with a splash of water i take mine neat, but ive been told its the wrong way, much nicer with a touch of water" I've heard that too. Isn't it supposed to round out the flavour? Few years back had a whiskey taste of 3 different ones and came with a water jug, pipette and glass.

"Do most guys have their malt neat, nothing added, or with a splash of water i take mine neat, but ive been told its the wrong way, much nicer with a touch of water" I remember doing a distillery tour on a union jolly years ago. In the NE of Scotland. One of the tour guides added a splash of spring water. Was lovely. Personally I prefer neat over ice.

"Do most guys have their malt neat, nothing added, or with a splash of water i take mine neat, but ive been told its the wrong way, much nicer with a touch of water" I was told by an expert that a splash of water brings out the flavour but ice kills the flavour of the grain. All a matter of personal taste. Every distillery is different, so every whisky is different

"Glenturret is nice. Generally I like the ones matured in Sherry barrels rather than the peaty ones. However I’m really a quantity man and just drink lots of famous Grouse neat room temperature after dinner. Or with ginger ale and ice before dinner. " Nothing exotic about it, but i find that Famous Grouse is excellent value.

Off topic (Famous Grouse, though it has maintained its high quality for decades, is a blend) but another good blend is Big T.
