I love the Scottish Highlands it’s my go to place to unwind and feel free but I’ve never managed to do all of the NC500 so would be interested to heard from guys who may have done it all and who can recommend good places to stop and visit 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Definitely go up the East coast first.

West is best and save the best to last.

If you’ve been to Skye before, I recommend skipping it as it just gets too busy.

Places to stop? Dunnet bay in the very north east then as you travel west, Durness is a real gem - absolutely gorgeous place.

After Durness I would recommend stopping at Scourie too, then onto Ullapool.

If you do skip Skye, replace it with Gairloch instead. You’ll understand why when you get there.

Best times to do it is off season, that’s just my opinion though xx

Done the Isle of Skye and fell in love with the place so much that I’m looking into moving up there permanently

Some proper friendly folk and there is a small amount of Geordies and Mackems who live there so it’ll be like being at home for me 😊

It's not as good as it used to be, it's full of caravans and campervans. Trying to pass some of these folks is impossible, they'll not pull over and will happily sit with huge tailbacks behind them.

Everything from food to accommodation is expensive.

The scenery is beautiful, and most locals are welcoming.

I used to go every year for at least a week on the motorbike, started in the 80's. You woukdn't see another vehicle for hours.

You have to go once, it will always stay with you.

Just bear in mind that it's not a playground, people live and work in that area. There is a constant battle with ignorant motor home drivers who stop anywhere, leaving their rubbish. The roads are narrow and you would be amazed at the idiots who stop/ picnic in passing places.

Go out of season, weather is OK and all the motor homes are far away.

Enjoy and respect the area.

Went in May, no midges and very little traffic this year, I go most years but unless your camping it's going to cost. Definitely come down the west coast and turn right at Kinlochewe for Applecross

The Scottish Highlands are the best it’s a great place to go and unwind away from all the stresses of life

Head up to Glencoe explore especially around Glen Etive where you will see Stags and Golden Eagles 🦅

Visit the Lochs head over to the Isle of Skye and over to Torridon making sure you take in the Pass of the Cattle ie Applecross

Great people as well you welcome you warmly and will always help you if you need anything

Just need to do more of the East Side as I’ve not really covered that side yet

It was pissing down and strong wind so it was very slow in bottom gear most of the way and the bike boiled over of course.

Forget the NC 500 and all the crowds, For a real adventure travel to the far north of Shetland, especially to the most northerly point in the Uk, Unst.

Sorted a trip last year, drove to Aberdeen, overnight boat to Lerwick, two ferries to Unst.Superb unspoilt scenery and history.Wild camping is allowed,as there is very little accommodation this far north.

Then boat to Orkney, a very welcoming and pleasant Island, lots of secluded beaches and history.

Boat to Scrabster and drove down east coast route, part of NC 500. faster road but different.

Enjoyed it so much so went back to Orkney this year.

If anyone wants advice on this, drop me a note.

Thd NC500 totally ruined the North Coast of Scotland. Such a shame. The locals absolutely hate it. Places like Applecross have been ruined. People in campervans doing a big shop before they leave and contributing nothing to the local community.

You could say that about many places it’s called tourism
