How does Grindr get away with effectively giving your phone a virus?

Nearly every time I go on it now an "Advert" comes up saying my phone storage is full designed to look like the message is actually coming from the phone, it is almost impossible to click away, and when you try to click that little square at the bottom of the screen to go back to the phone home screen a "Download" button appears so you accidentally download the virus.

You'd think that this would be illegal.

Anyway I'm going to delete the app.

on a samsung its bottom right..probably different for different phones..

Sometimes pop up adverts have a fake X on it, so you press it and it takes you to the site or downloads something.

More often than not you need to wait 20 seconds or so before the actual X appears to close it.

How often do you clear your browsing history?

All sites leave cookies, so clear your history and see if that helps.

I hadn't used Grindr in many years but downloaded it for the Madonna stuff recently.

I didn't use it for hooking up but it was painful, full of adverts and just painful limits. You would need alot patience to use it as a free member.

In the years I've been using it I honestly can't say I've ever had this happen.

The only way I could see this happening is if Grindr was not installed from the app store and came from a third party link or website.

You've just been lucky..I got app from playstore...adverts pop-up all time, I clear all tabs to remove ads..only use free " part"..perhaps maybe why !!..

Its gone downhill anyway....

only thing i prefer on it is..you can add any pictures as profile pics,ie; landscape,seascape,pic of a motorbike or say fishing rod etc etc..

never got why fab won't allow this..a picture of a cloud is hardly offensive!!

It was installed from The Google Play Store (I think that's what it's called) the little multi coloured triangle app on the phone, I've never installed any app from anything else other than that.
