Day 5 as a non-smoker. 🚭

Who has given up smoking, and how did you feel on day five?

It’s quite some years since I quit (9 years next month) and I did it with the help of Champix (tablets which seemed to take the pleasure out if smoking, replacing it with a strange sense of boredom with making a roll up and smoking it).

I can’t remember how I felt on day five but I do recall finding myself in a stressful situation about 4 weeks in. Ordinarily I’d have reached for my fags straight away but there was a moment when after an initial sense I’d panic at not having any, reminding myself “but you’re no longer a smoker”.

It gets easier by the day, the week, the month … now and again if I’m having a beer out a cup of tea in the garden I think “a cheeky little roll up would be a real pleasure right now”. Luckily I know myself well enough to realise that one cheeky little roll up would result in me being back on 40 a day within a couple of weeks.

Many congratulations on your decision to quit. And wishing you strength and determination to continue. You will notice the health benefits and you’ll also come to realise that smoking is pretty smelly and crazily expensive.

Keep up the good fight fella!

I tried everything and failed, then after 35 years of smoking I went day by day cold turkey. I eventually found out that the hit I got from smoking was when I inhaled it and the inhalation hitting the back of my throat was the main urge for a drag. 10 years now stopped, if I feel like even a draw of one, very rare BTW, I just breath in and imagine that hit from breathing in and it's gone. And it's cheaper lol

I quit cigarettes 10 years ago and did so by going from them to vaping, literally overnight - still vape and it's more habit than anything, just like smoking was, but it's a lot cheaper and from what docs have told me, healthier too.

I have occasionally had a cigarette since I quit - more out of bloody mindedness to prove I could and not go back, and to be honest every time I have I've wondered why on earth I ever started in the first place as it was vile.

if you've got past day 2 you've got past the hardest..

Wash your clothes and bedding..seriously..( keep occupied)

Avoid tomatoes for a fortnight..

If time..go walking in countryside or sea shore..take deep breaths in ..hold few seconds..breath out ..repeat..( it gets oxygen in ..helps remove remaining nicotine..)...

Worked for me ....28 years ago !

I stopped on November the 18th, 1996, after 18 years as a smoker.

You have to really want to stop, once you feel that in your brain it takes over.

It far from easy though.

Gave up smoking in December 1999, when I was admitted to hospital with a severe chest infection! I spent Christmas in hospital and was discharged just before NYE.

To be honest, I can’t remember how I felt on day 5!

I've tried to stop smoking more times than I care to remember, the longest stint was 2 years... Your question about how you feel after 5 days is easy to answer, absolutely fine. I've always found that the first 2 weeks or so are the easiest, its only when your body is totally void of nicotine that you start to really feel the effects of it. Anyone who says it just gets easier after the first few days is kidding you. It gets noticeably harder, day after day. However, if you can get past the first month or so, then it does get easier, but, if like me you're thrown into a stressful situation then the first thing you want is a ciggie. Get past that hurdle then you've conquered it. If you don't get past that hurdle then get ready to be smoking twice as many as you did before you stopped. Hope you manage it mate, up to yet I haven't. All the best of luck to you.

Gave up years ago , it was a constant battle and took a lot of perseverance. Yep had a few stumbles , but didn’t quit quitting. Wanting to be a non smoker was key to success …

Also , the benefits, dont stink, health, not just your lungs, its your heart, kidneys, everything from the other toxins. A smokers blood is like crude oil. Thick and gloopy. I won't mention finance cos it depends.

Also your cum will taste alot nicer, I do swallow and can tell the difference. Keep it up, you can do it.

October 1988 so too long ago to remember. Nearly gave into temptation about a month later but fortunately resisted.
