The Sydney University warning (and similar postings) are apparently a total waste of time - and make profiles harder to read.

Can Admin not remove those warnings?

It's very sensible to warn others when universities are using our pictures without our consent.

Where are the servers based for this website??

If it's the UK they come under the date protection act. And can be fined heavily for giving out our information etc?

Can anyone here provide any checkable evidence of any actually existing person having had their publicly-displayed photos acquired by "Sydney University" or any other Western academic institution?

Just asking.

I'm guessing "Sydney University" is the University of New South Wales Sydney rather than the University of Sydney, which is a different outfit.

It's usually a great warning sign with any of these 'warnings' like the Sydney one, or the copied and pasted ones about being a public traded company, that the person is not very bright.

Even if it did happen, how would such a meaningless warning stop them?

Are they really gonna contact a solicitor and take legal action because someone has used their picture from a dating site?

And the "Fabguys is now a publicly traded entity" (erm....) or "..is punishable by law. UCC 1-103 1-308 " (If you lived in USA maybe).

It worries me that people believe this crap, or maybe it's a double bluff and they're actually really clever and think other people will believe it and not copy the pictures that no one really wants to keep a copy of anyway!

As I may have mentioned before, UCC1-103 1-308 is designed to homogenise contract terms across US State borders, and has no force outside the USA.

"UCC 1-308 seeks to provide the ability to declare inadvertent contractual consequences null and void. In short, the code establishes that, when agreeing to certain performance or contract terms, if such terms result in a loss of rights to which one party is unaware, performance cannot be forced. The code specifically excludes matters involving accord and satisfaction, where parties agree to augmented or lesser terms than originally agreed to, in order to settle a dispute or breach of contract."

Got a message from a Fabguy several years back. His profile info consisted entirely of all the silly and ineffective disclamers he'd found on the 'net. Nothing whatever about him, his likes or fantasies. This lot was nearly three screens deep on my 'phone.

I suggested he dump the lot and replace it with what he'd left out.

He declined, with a few insults, so I deleted his message and blocked him.

"Titanic sinks, hundreds missing". Lol.

This internet privacy myth started on Facebook and it's been doing the rounds now for what, more than two decades? It was bollocks then and it's bollocks still. It's where the "xxx is now a publicly traded entity" fluff came from.

If I see the Sydney University or UCC warnings I move on, it's usually the sign of a nervy / unsure timewaster.

"The Sydney University warning (and similar postings) are apparently a total waste of time - and make profiles harder to read.

For decades, a math puzzle has stumped the smartest mathematicians in the world. x3+y3+z3=k, with k being all the numbers from one to 100, is a Diophantine equation that's sometimes known as "summing of three cubes.

When there are two or more unknowns, as is the case here, only the integers are studied. The trick is finding integers that work for all equations, or the numbers for x, y, and z that will all equal k. Over the years, scientists have solved for nearly every integer between 0 and 100. The last two that remained were 33 and 42.

Booker turned to MIT math professor Andrew Sutherland, and Sutherland in turn enlisted the help of Charity Engine, which utilizes idle, unused computing power from over 500,000 home PCs to create a crowdsourced and environmentally conscious supercomputer.

The answers took over a million hours to compute. Without further ado, they are:

X = -80538738812075974

Y = 80435758145817515

Z = 12602123297335631

It wouldn’t be a quick or easy job for Admin to remove them. There’s so many variations that would have to be searched for. Then do you just delete the relevant profile text or all of it.

Can you imagine how many people would kick off because their precious rights have been violated by removing something they wrote (copied and pasted from another’s profile)
