"A film called ‘Sebastiane’ by Derek Jarman "
if you like Jarman Artfund.org have a few days left to raise the remainder of the £3.5 million to save his cottage;

Join the campaign to protect Derek Jarman’s legacy, and inspire creativity in generations to come.

On the windswept shore of Dungeness, visionary British filmmaker, artist and activist Derek Jarman transformed a Victorian fisherman’s hut into a sanctuary of art and imagination.

Prospect Cottage and its iconic garden stand testament to his defiant spirit, and have the potential to inspire artists and visitors long into the future.

But they are at risk. Help us raise £3.5 million to #SaveProspectCottage, and secure its future as a centre of creative activity – for everyone.

Funny story for you it was the 80s and video shop was the place to go for films

I was 20 something and a biker and lived in a flat with another biker and a Irish guy who would eat anything

It was a very straight house and I had a video player quite rare at the time

So we would nip to the video shop and get films to watch .

Well we picked up this film with leather clad men on the cover great a biker film born to be wild here we come

But it turns out we had picked up a gay film about leather men with hankies in their pockets some sort of code apparently

We that didn't go down well and taking the film back was embarrassing lol

I don't recall David Bowie being in My Beautiful Laundrette. I remember being 15 years old when I saw that film. But sadly not right through. The whole family watching it thinking it was some arty film. Then the sex happened and I cringed as my mum and step dad where horrified. They turned the channel so never really seen it right through. There is a new gay film coming out about 2 gay rugby players, can't remember what its called but its British and stars the guy who played Jamie Tate (Kim Tate's son) in Emmerdale. I fancy him, I'm into rugby players big time so I'd rather watch it at home.

There's a British film called "When I'm 64" made about 2004 I think, about 2 men starting a Gay relationship later in life. It stars Paul Freeman and Alun Armstrong.

A nice story, sensitively handled and quite beievable. Worth watching.

Just watched My Policeman. OK story, authentic look, but ultimately unsatisfying as the director has gone for atmosphere over pace and I wanted the dialogue delivered more naturally. Also, the visit to Venice was redundant, the arrival of the postcard was all that was needed, and the repeated wandering round Peacehaven, well, repetitive. If you need to know .... Harry Styles has a very nice arse.

Totally agree about 'In From The Side' - funny and knowing about gay men, and good on the challenges of open/closed relationships and relations with family. Really good sex scenes with no pussyfooting about who's doing what to whom!

Not 'gay' per se but a fine film is 'The Triple Echo' set during the war. An awol soldier hides out with the Glenda Jackson character on an isolated farm, passing as a female relative by wearing drag. Then a jeepful of soldiers including the Oliver Reed character turn up who takes a strong fancy to 'her'. Very sexually charged.

This weekend is the close of the festival in London but there are still some tickets. I went to see 'Big Boys' which was funny and charming and honest and so much better than I expected it to be.

And just saw 'The Blue Caftan' which must be one of the gentlest films I've ever seen. The terminally ill wife of a traditional Moroccan tailor comes round to the idea that their new apprentice lad might be right for him now she's on the way out, and she wants him to be happy when she's gone.

And the huge private shop on upper parliament Street in the city centre cater a wide range on porn dvds .

Infact Delta love do a part exchange so if you want to swap a dvd you get a percentage off.

There’s a French film called Theo and Hugo (I think) that’s got some strong, real gay sex at the beginning.

Also Presque Rien. And A Moment in the Reeds. Both have at least one simulated gay sex scene.

Not exactly a 'gay' film, but one with homoerotic overtones was 'Apartment Zero', a late 80s Argentina-GB co-production, with Colin Firth. ✅️

The Leather Boys. More a reflection of the Rocker scene of the 1960s with a gay element at the end. The novel is more explicit.

Various films by Pedro Almodóvar contain references to gay love, sex, etc., in various forms. Come to mind:

- 'What have I done to deserve this?' (1984)

- 'Matador' (1986)

- 'The law of desire' (1987)

- 'Distant heels' (1991)

- 'All about my mother ' (1999)

- 'Bad education ' (2004)

There’s a film called Holding the Man which contains some gay sex.. but it’s horribly depressing..

Man in an orange shirt.. features Julian Morris.. and his GORGEOUS bare rump simulating gay sex.. not as depressing

David’s Birthday.. contains a stunning gay (for pay?) young man who eventually has gay sex with a closeted older family friend.. in Italian

Finally one called 4 moons.. in Spanish.. comprised of four gay shorts.. one in particular is HOT.. the other three less so.

I joined something called dekko for its gay films. One or two ok ones and quite explicit, but most were depressing latino films where the gay characters were usually murdered or punished in some way.

Netflix seem very tame

Death in Venice - old film with classical music based on classical novel by Thomas Mann, I think. Some lovely beach scenes and stars Dirk Bogarde (previously mentioned in this thread).

From 2019 the Argentine film, 'Un Rubio' [The Blonde One'] is a lovely film, two straight carpenters sharing a flat discover they both enjoy sex with each other. For one it's just fun, for the other it changes his life. Beautiful and very explicit sex scenes.

From the end of 2025, 'Pillion' is an amazingly thought-provoking film about dominance and submission, harshness and gentleness in sex and a relationship. Well worth watching. Funny and sexy and enjoyable in various ways.

"Didn't realise Dirk's brother was in it

Piss, f'in auto correct!

It is still a great film though"

Indeed. i believe it was very influential in changing attitudes, and helping to make the case that the law before legalisation was a bl@ckmailer's charter.

Recently watched Band of Brothers again and had forgotten just how good it was. Not a gay series but it is about the friendship and cameraderie that males can have.

Would really like to see a film that is a great piece of cinema in itself and the fact that the leading characters are gay is not that important to the storyline.
