Quite large complex built in the 1980's, over 4 floors. Large square at ground level with bars and restaurants around the edges.

On the upper floors there are more restaurants and tourist type shops. There are also a number of cruise bars and clubs.

I'm staying opposite at the moment and go there with my wifee to eat / drink every night, so no idea what the clubs are like. I'd estimate that upwards of 50% of the people there are gay / bi. It feels very safe.

It’s mental. As already mentioned, it caters to normal tourist families as well as pretty much everything gay men want.

So on the ground level in one corner you’ve got a Burger King, and in the opposite corner a bar called Hummel Hummel which if you walked past, you’d think it was just for the older gay gentleman who wants a quiet, social drink. But at the back there’s a small dark cruising area.

On level one there’s Noxon which is closed during the day but openly announces all of its attractions including a pissing area.

There are lots of drag shows if you like that kind of thing (I don’t) and there’s even crazy golf.

Is there anywhere else where gay culture in all of its form, is so up front and proud?

To be fair, go down the road to the bizarre and labyrinthine, Cita Centre, and you’ll see the swinging scene rubbing shoulders with traditional holiday tourism. Google Street View will give you a glimpse of was/is on offer there.
