Stay within walking distance of old town. Best on the Levante side. Lots of choice at all star levels. Just depends how much you want to spend and if you want a sea view or not. I use Loveholidays and when you search you can access a map that shows where they all are and prices. So look around the old town area and see what's on offer for what you want to pay.

Any of the hotels around the old town should be fine. They are all very friendly.

If you’re intending on perhaps inviting company back to your room. Then other things have to be taken in to account.

The Santa Faz, International, Voromar, and the Agua Azul will charge you extra to bring a guest back for the night. Your guest will also need their passport or national ID card.

The RH Sol has an apartment block separate from the hotel. No reception to go past and your own key to let yourself in. After the pub closes the Casa Don Juan is also key access but both those places do not have lifts.
