You had to be so careful in the Forces before the law changed, that’s not to say stuff didn’t go on, it did. A lot of action in Germany and Cyprus but UK was more difficult. Hitchhiking home at weekends provided quite a few opportunities. For those who served in Germany you will probably remember the Parkplatzs on the A33 and A2 - great cruising areas that provided the opportunity to enhance Anglo/German relations.
