Who rembers joining gaydar back in the day??

Was my first ever introduction to gay world of hook ups and men lol

Used to them chat rooms you could join to chat in themed or just city town local guys as well as chat international.

Had the gaydar radio pumping in techno or club mix sounds had some super hot conversations on there. Stayed in touch with few guys toi via email internationallly.

What was you memory or gaydar??

And dud you hook up or meet or become friends with anyone.

Looking back it was great for the reasons you state mate - Chat Rooms were the best defo. Pity they tried to revamp it - disastrously. Haven’t been on for years , but still get the odd Email saying someone has looked at my profile or left me a Message. Alternative universe

Was more better times younger.

Seemed to be easier to meet too.

Yea think they revamped the site wasnt too keen left it never to return.

Gaydar was brilliant in its heyday, a myriad of niche interest chat rooms always managed to find some local fun.

I met my ex partner off of Gaydar back in 2004, great times. Such a pity the site fell off the cliff.

Starting this month you need to pay to use the GD chat rooms. I paid, and still cannot access said chat rooms. My queries to the site support function have gone unanswered. An interesting approach to trustworthy customer service. Fabguys by contrast remains fully dependable and customer-friendly.

The old GD makes this site seem inadequate in comparison. I made some great friends online there. It was a good laugh in local chat rooms. Even had nights out arranged for the regulars in bars in Cardiff. Not to mention the other use for that site.

I wont reiterate the details of GD's downfall since the revamp because, from your own experiences, you all know. However it never did seem to recover. I persevered but this week I had finally had enough and tried to leave. That wasnt straight forward, I can tell you. It was like they were drsperate to keep a redundant profile. Anyway the reason I left was because I was no longer even able to view who winked at me without being hit with a paywall and the messaging field suddenly became inaccessible to me. I used to be a paying member a decade ago. It's incredible how they think someone would, or even could, subscribe to it now!!

Gd was my first intro the gay world, I remember the excitement of receiving a message and having lots of hot chats on the go.

I also remember arranging my first ever call, I was so horny that I think the guy said 'hello' to me and I came.

I was gutted when it changed as it was a great site.

Having to wait until 6pm as the phone calls were free to use the Internet. Gd was the place to go. Clicking on the mouse frantically to get into a chat room as it would only allow 20 members at a time. Oh the good old days lol

Gaydar is used as a lesson for web developers. How to change a site but totally ignore its users and destroy it in consequence. I had some amazing meets from there, it’s targeted message communities made it really easy for those with particular kinks like me to find each other.

Gaydar was the big name in gay hook up sites back in the day, do they still own copyright on the name as that must be worth something.

The chat rooms were legendary with different areas and also their themed rooms.

Technology wasn't as advanced at the time and they really missed a trick by having a webcam meeting room but you needed to arrange to go to a third party cam site usually Microsoft Netmeeting or similar
