Have been using cages on and off for about 4 years or so now, mostly self-locked - and when I have been it's been for varying lengths of time, sometimes with gaps of months in between.
Have currently been locked pretty much permanently since March - only take it off for very specific reasons and even then it goes right back on at the first opportunity
